Brighton-born singer-songwriter Alfie Jukes has announced his highly anticipated debut album, Funny Little Feeling, set for release in April 2027 via Giant Music. Alongside the announcement, he has unveiled his upbeat new single, Lucy, When You Wake Up, an infectious alt-pop track that turns a remarkable family love story into a celebration of romance, nostalgia and the unexpected moments that shape our lives.
- The forthcoming album marks the culmination of three years of artistic discovery for Jukes, bringing together his candid songwriting and distinctive alt-pop sound in a collection centred on the complicated emotions of growing up. Created alongside Welsh co-writer Ifan Pritchard, co-writer and producer Dan McDougall, and collaborator Jules Oliver, Funny Little Feeling explores falling in love, heartbreak, personal change and the challenge of holding onto the people and experiences that matter as life moves forward.
- Describing the record, Jukes explains that it reflects a period of significant change in his own life, balancing the excitement of new experiences with a growing awareness of the past.
- “Funny Little Feeling is a coming of age album. It’s growing up, it’s falling in love and it’s heartbreak. The last couple years of my life has been filled with change. Exciting change – but also lots of change that’s left me feeling nostalgic for the things that don’t exist the same anymore. I think nostalgia is the perfect word for this album.
- “I’m more in love than I’ve ever been on this record, but I’m also learning how to deal with my world shifting around me. It’s about trying to hold onto the things and people I love while accepting that everything is moving forward. All the funny little feelings.”
- That mixture of affection, reflection and emotional honesty is at the heart of Lucy, When You Wake Up. Bursting with bright melodies, punchy hooks and a memorable chorus, the single delivers a feel-good pop moment built around a story that is particularly close to the singer’s heart. Co-written and produced by GETH, the track draws inspiration from the unlikely romance between Jukes’ parents.
- The story began when his father reportedly fell in love with his mother after a single night, despite her already being in a relationship. Determined to express his feelings, he wrote her a letter – a gesture that ultimately helped bring the couple together. Years later, Jukes discovered the original letter tucked away in the family attic, uncovering a small piece of personal history with an extraordinary consequence.
- “Lucy, When You Wake Up is a really special song for me and my family. It’s about my Mum and Dad. When they first met, my Dad apparently fell in love with my Mum in a single night. There was just one problem: she already had a boyfriend. Rather than letting that stop him, he wrote her a letter telling her exactly how he felt. And somehow, it worked.
- “Years later, I found the original letter tucked away in our attic. Knowing that this tiny piece of paper had ultimately led to me existing felt pretty surreal. I couldn’t not write a song about it. This is that song.”
- The single offers a glimpse of the personal storytelling that underpins Funny Little Feeling, with Jukes transforming an intimate family anecdote into an accessible pop song without losing sight of its emotional significance. Where the album looks at the passage of time and the changes that come with growing older, Lucy, When You Wake Up finds romance in the past and celebrates the small decisions that can alter the course of a life.
- Jukes has steadily built his audience from the ground up, amassing more than one million followers across social media through his music, online covers and open approach to songwriting. His early experience in musical theatre included a stint with the Royal Shakespeare Company, but the pandemic proved a turning point, encouraging him to concentrate on writing and developing his own sound.
- His 2022 track Spiderwebs helped introduce his songwriting to a wider audience, while a support slot with Only The Poets led to a run of 26 European dates with the band in 2024. Since then, Jukes has sold out headline shows in London, Brighton, Manchester and Leeds, alongside performances in Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna and Prague. More recently, he joined Asha Banks on her North American tour, continuing to build his experience in front of international audiences.
His three EPs, most recently 2025’s All Dressed Up for Nothing, have documented his development as a songwriter, pairing infectious alt-pop melodies with candid reflections on the uncertainties and discoveries of growing up. Drawing inspiration from artists including Joesef, Phoebe Bridgers and Sam Fender, Jukes continues to carve out a sound that balances immediacy and melodic appeal with an unmistakably personal perspective.
With Funny Little Feeling arriving in April 2027, Jukes is preparing to bring these experiences together in his first full-length album. The release promises a snapshot of an artist navigating love, nostalgia and change, while Lucy, When You Wake Up provides an uplifting introduction to the next chapter of his career.
