GRAMMY®-winning artist ALYA returns with Dreaming, a soulful new single that traces her lifelong fascination with romance, following the release of Believer and offering another glimpse of her forthcoming album.

Built around a laid-back groove, celestial harmonies and ALYA’s expressive vocals, Dreaming has the feel of a sun-soaked escape. Its lyrics capture the youthful excitement of imagining an ideal love before experiencing it for yourself, blending innocence with the heady rush of a relationship beginning to take shape. “I was always a dreamer of romance, although it wasn’t nourished or encouraged in my culture,” she says. “I spent many nights fantasizing about the hand-holding, eye-gazing, laughing-with-each-other kind of love, but I never thought it would be possible.”

The song began taking shape while ALYA was experimenting with instruments in her home studio. She subsequently completed the track alongside regular producer Tim Carmon, whose credits include Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney, co-producer Yeezo, who has worked with Chris Brown, and songwriter Kim Rutherford.

The production is further elevated by a group of accomplished musicians, including guitarist Errol Cooney, known for his work with Stevie Wonder, bassist Courtney Leonard, who has performed with Beyoncé, and drummer and guitarist Mateo Laboriel, whose credits include Kendrick Lamar.

Together, their contributions give Dreaming a sleek, understated character, balancing organic musicianship with contemporary production while keeping ALYA’s storytelling at its centre.

The single is the latest preview of ALYA’s forthcoming album, scheduled for release in early 2027. She describes the writing process behind the record as unusually natural, with much of the material emerging directly from her own thoughts and experiences. “This song and the forthcoming album all came so effortlessly in terms of writing because most of it came from the diary of my mind,” she says.

Born and raised in Eastern Europe before becoming a long-term resident of Los Angeles, ALYA draws from a broad musical palette. Her early influences include Slavic folk traditions, while the vocal power of Adele, Amy Winehouse and Celine Dion has also informed her approach to songwriting and performance.

Her music moves freely between styles, incorporating contemporary sounds ranging from amapiano to alternative pop while retaining a strong emphasis on melody and narrative.

That versatility has led to collaborations with artists including Eric Clapton, D Smoke, Erica Campbell, Dr. Chaii, Indiara Sfair and White Sun. Her work with White Sun earned her a Grammy Award, adding another significant milestone to an increasingly international career.

With Dreaming, ALYA continues to develop the musical world surrounding her forthcoming album, bringing together intimate storytelling, polished production and the wide-ranging influences that have shaped her career.
