Chet Faker has shared his latest single, Can You Swim?, offering another deeply personal glimpse into the emotional landscape of his forthcoming album A Love For Strangers, due for release on 13th February 2026.
Arriving alongside an official music video, Can You Swim? finds Nick Murphy leaning into vulnerability, framing the uncertainty of love through the imagery of rising tides and the struggle to stay afloat. Stripped back and emotionally raw, the track pairs Murphy’s unmistakable vocals with a somber piano arrangement, capturing the tension between surrender and self-preservation as a relationship hangs in the balance.
The new release follows two sold-out nights in London at HERE at Outernet and coincides with a recent performance at the Sydney Opera House, underscoring a period of renewed creative momentum for the Australian artist. Can You Swim? builds naturally on the themes introduced by previous single This Time For Real, continuing Murphy’s exploration of expectation, intimacy and emotional risk.
A Love For Strangers marks the next chapter in Chet Faker’s evolving story, shaped by reflection and rediscovery following the 10-year anniversary of his breakthrough debut Built On Glass. The album sees Murphy reconnecting with the spirit of curiosity and freedom that first defined the Chet Faker project, while drawing on the depth gained through years of boundary-pushing work under his own name and through collaborations across genres.
With Can You Swim?, Chet Faker further opens the door to an album that promises honesty, introspection and a return to the restless exploration at the heart of his artistry.
