Rapidly rising Manchester quartet Corella have unleashed their explosive new single Rewire, marking their first release via FLG and signalling a bold new chapter for the band.
Produced by GRAMMY®-winner Jason Perry — known for his work with McFly, Don Broco and The Molotovs — Rewire is a high-voltage statement of intent. Soaring guitar riffs collide with relentless drums and thunderous bass, while frontman Joel Smith delivers a snarled, commanding vocal that taps into the political unease simmering on both sides of the Atlantic.
Speaking about the track, Smith explains: “A lot of people are so vulnerable, especially in the UK, it feels as though they’ll believe anything that gets put in front of them. This song came out of our frustration from simply observing that people have maybe been ‘rewired’ to think a certain way, but also encouraging them to flip that on its head, to challenge the status quo.”
Already road-tested at summer festivals across the UK and Europe, Rewire has been making waves throughout 2026 during Corella’s UK tour with Kaiser Chiefs, who personally selected the band as support after witnessing their main stage performance at Kendal Calling. The track’s darker tone and sharpened edge have clearly struck a chord with live audiences, adding a new ferocity to the band’s set.
The single marks a distinct evolution from the indie-pop shimmer of their 2024 debut album Once Upon A Weekend, which broke into the Top 5 of the Independent Breakers Chart and the Top 20 across multiple UK sales charts. Since then, Corella have amassed over 70 million streams and built a formidable grassroots following, bolstered by support from BBC Radio 1, Radio X and BBC Introducing.
Having toured with the likes of Pale Waves, Circa Waves and The Wombats, alongside appearances at Reading & Leeds Festivals, Corella have steadily cemented their reputation as one of the North’s most exciting live acts.
With a second album slated for release in 2026, Rewire feels like lightning in a bottle — darker, heavier and fuelled by purpose. If this is the sound of Corella recalibrated, the next chapter promises to be their most electrifying yet.
