Dido Marks 25 Years Of ‘No Angel’ With Deluxe Anniversary Vinyl

by | May 17, 2025

More than two decades after its quiet release, Dido’s No Angel stands tall as one of the most defining albums in UK music history — and now, the iconic singer-songwriter is celebrating its legacy with a stunning 25th Anniversary Edition, due for release on 19th September via Arista/Sony Music. The commemorative edition, featuring exclusive artwork and a limited red marbled vinyl, offers fans an immersive return to the record that made her a household name and quietly redefined pop music at the turn of the millennium.

Initially slipping under the radar in 1999, No Angel gained momentum thanks to its subtle fusion of folk-pop, electronica, and introspective lyricism. Word of mouth, critical acclaim, and Dido’s haunting vocal presence gradually pushed the record to the top of the charts — and it stayed there. The album spent an astonishing seven weeks at #1 in the UK and remained in the Top 10 for over a year. Today, No Angel is certified 10× Platinum in the UK, has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, and earned Dido multiple BRIT Awards and her first Ivor Novello.

Even with its pre-streaming era origins, No Angel remains remarkably relevant. In fact, it continues to find new listeners: it currently boasts over 1.2 billion streams globally and a monthly Spotify audience of more than 20 million — figures that few debut albums from its time can match.

The new anniversary edition arrives as both a collector’s piece and a love letter to longtime fans. It includes the original tracklist — featuring beloved singles like Here With Me, Hunter, Don’t Think of Me, and, of course, Thank You, which famously served as the backbone for Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP breakout hit Stan. The tune was also used as the theme for hit TV show Roswell. The reissue comes in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with never-before-seen photography from the original album campaign. A standard black vinyl version will also be available.

At its core, No Angel is a study in emotional clarity — sparse but lush, confessional yet universally resonant. The stripped-back production and melodic sophistication were a bold shift from the excess of late ’90s pop, which is likely why the record resonated so deeply with a generation looking for something more human. It’s no wonder contemporary artists like Caroline Polachek have cited Dido’s influence on their own work.

Dido’s career only soared further in the years that followed. Her sophomore effort, Life For Rent (2003), was another blockbuster, debuting at #1 in the UK and spawning timeless hits like White Flag. She’s since released three more Top 5 albums, collaborated with global names like A.R. Rahman on the Oscar-nominated If I Rise, and won an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection in 2019. Her recent revival came with Thank You (Not So Bad) — a reimagined version of her classic track, remixed by Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Tiësto, and W&W, which racked up 500 million streams in under a year.

This new No Angel reissue isn’t just a retrospective moment — it’s a reminder of Dido’s quiet revolutionary power, the emotional weight of restraint, and the timelessness of sincerity in songwriting. In an age of algorithm-driven singles, No Angel stands as a rare full-album experience that continues to captivate and inspire.

The No Angel (25th Anniversary Edition) is available for pre-order now and will be released globally on 19th September 2025.

There’s something beautifully ironic about a band named The Nocturnal Affair igniting a venue like Birmingham’s Asylum before the sun has even fully set. On a night where gothic grandeur met sweltering heat, the Las Vegas dark rock outfit delivered a set that was as emotionally rich as it was musically explosive, proving themselves more than worthy support for Fearless Vampire Killers and the master of macabre himself, Wednesday 13.
