Everyone Says Hi have unveiled details of their second album, Funny Cos It’s True, set for release on 25th September 2026, alongside the arrival of the heartfelt new single Don’t Underestimate Yourself.
The announcement marks the next chapter for the indie-pop collective led by former Kaiser Chiefs drummer and chief songwriter Nick Hodgson. Following the release of their acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2024, the band return with a record that promises to expand upon their nostalgic yet refreshingly contemporary sound, blending shimmering guitar-pop, classic songwriting influences and deeply personal storytelling.
Produced by Hodgson and recorded entirely at his North London home studio, Funny Cos It’s True finds Everyone Says Hi embracing a more collaborative creative process than ever before. While the band’s debut established their identity through infectious melodies and polished indie-pop craftsmanship, the new album digs deeper emotionally, tackling themes including grief, parenthood, social media pressures, modern isolation and the search for meaning in an increasingly digital world.
Work on the album began following the band’s touring commitments in support of their debut. Inspired by the chemistry developed on the road, the group reconvened to write and record together throughout 2025, crafting a collection of songs that Hodgson describes as both reflective and hopeful.
At the heart of the album’s announcement is new single Don’t Underestimate Yourself, a warm and uplifting slice of guitar-driven indie-pop wrapped in lush strings and subtle 1970s influences. Built around an irresistible chorus and rich melodic textures, the track carries a touching message from Hodgson to his young daughter.
Speaking about the song, he explains that it serves as a reminder for her to remain confident and true to herself as she grows older, encouraging her not to lose the bold spirit and self-belief she possesses today.
The track follows recent single Just Like That, further showcasing the band’s ability to merge classic songwriting traditions with modern indie sensibilities. Across Funny Cos It’s True, those influences range from vintage guitar pop and seventies soft rock through to contemporary indie, all filtered through the band’s distinctive melodic lens.
The album title itself reflects the balance between serious themes and Hodgson’s naturally optimistic outlook. While many of the songs examine loss, loneliness and the pressures of modern life, there remains an underlying sense of humour and resilience running throughout the record.
Everyone Says Hi’s growing reputation as a live act has also continued to gather momentum. Having previously shared stages with the likes of Neil Young, Feeder and The Cribs, the band have steadily built a dedicated audience through a series of headline and support performances. Their live line-up combines seasoned musicians from across the UK alternative scene, with Hodgson joined by Pete Denton (The Kooks), Ben Gordon (The Dead 60s), Glenn Moule (Howling Bells) and guitarist Oli Swan.
With a second album on the horizon and an expanding catalogue of infectious indie-pop anthems, Funny Cos It’s True looks set to cement Everyone Says Hi’s place as one of Britain’s most exciting emerging guitar bands.
