ARIA Award, 8x Golden Guitar, and AIR Award winning Australian artist Fanny Lumsden, who has just been announced as a Glastonbury 2023 performer on the Avalon Stage alongside artists such as Laura Mvula, The Lottery Winners, Lissie, Gabrielle Aplin, and Melanie C, released her latest single Millionaire last month, together with a breezy music video.

Millionaire is the first taste of new music from Lumsden as she gears up for the release of her fourth studio album, and follows on from her ARIA Top 10, Golden Guitar and ARIA Award-winning 2020 album Fallow. The single sees the acclaimed singer-songwriter incorporate guitar-based indie-pop into her trademark world of gorgeously crafted, emotionally rich acoustic songwriting.

Fanny explains the genesis of Millionaire, saying “Like a lot of firsts, getting your first car is a season of freedom that you can never quite live again. Mine came in the form of a Daewoo Ciello, bought off the side of the road in Griffith, NSW at age 18. I have never really wanted fancy things and to me the ultimate day is heading to the river, music blaring in the car, with family and friends.”

On being announced for Glastonbury’s Avalon Stage this year, Lumsden commented: “I can’t quite believe we get to play such an iconic festival with so much history and for it to be our first gig in the UK. It feels a long way from the small farming community I grew up in western NSW, Australia which is pretty thrilling!’”

Along with her husband Dan Stanley Freeman, Lumsden runs her own record label and production company, Red Dirt Road, and hugely successful touring brand – The Country Halls Tour – which has sold out over 200+ venues all over Australia.

Lumsden is an artist who is dedicated to playing live and connecting with audiences, she has toured with the likes of Paul Kelly, Kasey Chambers and headlined multiple sold-out theatre tours as well as playing AmericanaFest in Nashville.

Maya Lane On The Hurt And The Healing: From Vulnerability to Growth

On a rain-soaked evening in London, rising singer-songwriter Maya Lane celebrated the release of her brand-new EP The Hurt And The Healing with an intimate show at The Grace. Just weeks earlier, we had met under sunnier skies at The Long Road Festival, beers and whiskies in hand, denim and sunshine everywhere. Now, umbrellas and storm clouds in tow, it felt fitting that Lane’s new project, a record that navigates through storms towards moments of calm, should arrive on a night like this.
