The Goo Goo Dolls have released a new video for the band’s latest single Lost from their 12th studio album Miracle Pill, which was released September 13th, 2019 via Warner Records.
This video, directed by Joelle Grace Taylor, follows the day in a life of a young woman, Madolyn Ropell, from when she wakes in the morning to when she collapses back into bed in her modest apartment.
Check out the video below:
Throughout the day you follow Madolyn on a journey of reinvention, where this young woman is trying desperately to find herself, riding an emotional roller-coaster and going through a myriad of wardrobe changes until she ends her day exhausted with an extremely contended expression on her face as if to say she’s accomplished her quest in the pursuit of discovery.
“The song reminds me that we all make mistakes and lose the plot of our own stories sometimes,” frontman John Rzeznik said while describing the current single “We get distracted with the cheap, shiny, sights and sounds of a world in disarray but ultimately, we find where we need to be if we keep our eyes open for what really matters.”
Joelle Grace Taylor, the video’s director, wanted to shoot the video for Lost from the perspective of a single character, “To me, the song is about learning to trust yourself and embracing parts of you that may have been missing. I drew inspiration from my own past as well as the star of the video, Madolyn Ropell. The lyrics really hit close to home with past experiences of broken relationships, whether it be romantic / family / friends. By following Madolyn on her journey of self-discovery, I wanted to show that it isn’t easy to let yourself get lost but it’s worth it when you gain total freedom to find yourself. I hope viewers will connect with the character in the video and be inspired to live a life unafraid. It’s not easy to change and grow; you will cry, you will laugh, you will doubt yourself and love yourself and it’ll all be worth it.”
The Goo Goo Dolls are about to embark on a UK tour kicking off in Glasgow on February 19th which includes a show at London’s Roundhouse on 27th February. Of this tour Rzeznik said “I love playing the UK, the audiences are amazing. We always have a blast so it’s a real pleasure to be coming back”
