Jehnny Beth Unleashes Explosive New Track ‘Obsession’ Ahead Of Upcoming Album & European Tour

by | Jun 10, 2025

French artist and sonic provocateur Jehnny Beth returns with a vengeance this week, releasing the blistering new single Obsession—the lead track from her forthcoming sophomore album You Heartbreaker, You, due out 29 August 2025 on Fiction Records. An uncompromising blast of pent-up angst, Obsession is a thunderous statement of intent from the former Savages frontwoman, now forging her path deeper into the shadows of alternative rock and industrial pop. The track drops on this Friday, 13th June, just in time to soundtrack your summer surrender to desire, danger, and dissonance.

Written by Beth and her long-time creative partner Johnny Hostile, who also recorded and produced the track at their 20L07 studio in France, Obsession sets the tone for the entire album. From the opening whispers to the cathartic howls, the track grips like a fever dream—dark, sensual, and wired with emotional electricity.

Obsession is the first song Johnny and I wrote together for this album,” says Jehnny Beth. “The lyrics ‘you heartbreaker, you’ gave the title to the album but more than that, the song gave the album its tone. It’s probably one of the most detailed tracks on the record.”

Musically, Beth describes the track as something born from a fevered collaboration between Tricky, Jonathan Davis (Korn), and Adam Jones (Tool)—a swirling, fractured mesh of trip-hop, nu-metal intensity, and intricate alt-rock textures. It’s a sonic maelstrom that mirrors the song’s subject matter: primal obsession that spirals to the point of combustion.

Fans won’t have to wait long to hear Obsession and more new material live. Jehnny Beth has announced an extensive European tour for October, culminating in two back-to-back London shows—at Electrowerkz on 30th October and The Camden Assembly on 31st October, just in time for Halloween. Expect intimate chaos and explosive performances befitting one of modern music’s most intense live performers.

Jehnny Beth’s second solo album, You Heartbreaker, You, follows her critically acclaimed 2020 debut To Love Is To Live. With Obsession leading the charge, the new record promises an even more feral, confessional, and fearless chapter for one of contemporary music’s most powerful voices.
