Live Review: The Libertines @ The Electric Ballroom

by | Sep 11, 2015

You’ve probably worked out by now (or heard!) that Pete Doherty didn’t show up for The Libertines tonight, and the gig never happened. After nearly two hours of waiting the crowd started to get pretty upset and it ended up with cans and bottles being thrown, some hitting us in the pit. One guy then leapt the barrier and hurled the mic stand into the crowd, at which point we were all whisked outside.

Shortly after that Carl Barat and Gary left and we were all escorted out the back gate. An entertaining story but a disappointing evening as I was truly looking forward to it and arrangements were smooth as silk.

It’s a pity Pete couldn’t make it 🙁

UPDATE: An official statement has been posted to The Libertines’ Facebook page, apologising for the postponement of the London and Manchester gigs. It reads: “Due to unforeseen circumstances tonight the Libertines have had to postpone their sold out shows at the Electric Ballroom in Camden and at the Ritz in Manchester tomorrow night. Peter, Carl, John and Gary apologise whole heartedly to their fans and will reschedule both shows as soon as possible. This will not effect any of The Libertines other commitments. HQ.”
