Emerging indie artist lucky break has announced her debut album made it!, set for release on 8th May. A deeply personal introduction, made it! captures a formative period in the artist’s life, compiling songs written between the ages of 19 and 23. The result is a candid and emotionally rich record that explores early adulthood—charting uncertainty, heartbreak, and self-discovery with striking honesty.
Sonically, lucky break draws from a wide palette of influences, blending the emotional depth of Fiona Apple, the gentle introspection of Bedouine, and the Americana-tinged grit of Lucinda Williams. The record also sits comfortably alongside the sounds of Alvvays, Hole, Phoebe Bridgers and The Breeders—artists who similarly balance vulnerability with melodic immediacy.
Preview tracks including Head Down, City Lights, Crush, Camp Song, Darklight and Red Balloon have already offered a glimpse into the album’s world: one that shifts between dreamy indie textures and raw, cathartic moments. At its core, made it! tells the story of a young woman navigating the aftermath of a significant relationship while learning to assert herself and find her creative voice.
The album was created in collaboration with co-producer Elliott Woodbridge, with recording sessions taking place in Burbank. The pair handled instrumentation together, shaping a sound that feels both intimate and expansive. Final mixing and mastering was completed by GRAMMY®-nominated engineer Jessica Thompson, whose previous work includes artists such as Margo Guryan and Erroll Garner.
More than just a debut, made it! presents lucky break as a fully realised creative identity—part character, part confessional outlet. It’s a project rooted in contradiction: equal parts sadness and joy, uncertainty and clarity, fragility and confidence. That duality runs throughout the album’s 11 tracks, from the driving opener Big Swing through to the reflective closing moments of Spinning Cup.
With made it!, lucky break positions herself as a compelling new voice in indie music—one unafraid to document the messiness of growing up while embracing the excitement of what comes next.
