Alt-rock and pop-punk artist NOAHFINNCE has released WONKY, a raw, acoustic-led new single that explores self-acceptance, individuality and the pressure to change to meet other people’s expectations. The release marks a more stripped-back moment for the singer-songwriter, arriving ahead of his UK headline tour, which begins in Cardiff on 22nd October.
Born from a studio session with Patty Walters and Ben Langford-Biss of pop-punk band As It Is, alongside long-time collaborator and producer ST£FAN, WONKY sees Noah return to fully acoustic songwriting for the first time since Asthma Attack, released eight years ago. The result is an intimate, emotionally direct track that places vulnerability at the centre of his sound.
Explaining the inspiration behind the single, NOAHFINNCE says: “This is my first fully acoustic song since Asthma Attack came out 8 YEARS AGO and woweee this is very much another NOAHFINNCE song to cry to. Patty asked the question, ‘Why have you never written the classic acoustic emo song?’ This is what came out of it. It’s about accepting being different/a little bit fucked up and letting go of the idea that you need to change in order to be worthy.”
That message of self-acceptance runs through WONKY, offering a reminder that individuality should not be treated as a flaw to correct. By stepping away from the heavier production often associated with his alt-rock and pop-punk material, Noah allows the song’s emotional core to take precedence, delivering a candid reflection on learning to embrace the parts of ourselves that do not fit conventional expectations.
The single follows the release of TOO SENSITIVE and MR OVERWHELM over the summer, which introduced a new creative chapter for the artist. Together, the tracks demonstrate his willingness to explore different musical textures while maintaining the honesty and personal storytelling that have become central to his work.
The new music arrives as NOAHFINNCE prepares to return to the UK stage following a break from touring over the past 18 months. The time away allowed him to concentrate on writing, although he has also spoken openly about the financial challenges facing artists who want to take their music on the road.
In April, Noah became a recipient of the first phase of the UK Artist Touring Fund, an initiative established by the Featured Artists Coalition, with support from the Musicians’ Union and the Music Managers Forum. The scheme provides additional financial assistance to help artists make touring possible and support the wider UK live music ecosystem.
His forthcoming headline run begins at Cardiff’s Y Plas on 22 October before travelling to Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham and London, where he will play the Electric Ballroom on 27 October. Further dates in Glasgow and Newcastle follow, with the tour concluding at Manchester Academy 2 on 31 October. The shows offer fans the opportunity to reconnect with the artist’s catalogue while hearing how his latest material fits into his evolving sound.
Earlier this year, NOAHFINNCE joined Twenty One Pilots at their headline performance at All Points East in London’s Victoria Park. The appearance followed his release of a cover of the duo’s The Judge last year, bringing him onto the same bill as acts including Wunderhorse and Kid Kapichi.
Noah’s previous major release, debut album GROWING UP ON THE INTERNET, arrived in early 2024, followed by a deluxe edition later that year. The record brought together his sharp-edged alternative sound with lyrics addressing identity, neurodivergence and the experience of growing up in a world shaped by online culture.
Among its standout tracks is PET WITH THE TISM, which addresses Noah’s autism diagnosis. Its accompanying music video pays homage to the 2000s comedy film Mean Girls, reflecting his ability to combine personal subjects with humour and references drawn from popular culture.
The album’s release year also saw Noah perform at festivals including Download Festival, the Isle of Wight Festival and BLUDFEST, alongside his debut North American headline tour. He finished 2024 with his biggest UK headline run to date, including a sold-out performance at The Fleece in Bristol.
Beyond music, NOAHFINNCE has built a substantial online following as a YouTuber, with more than one million subscribers. He began posting covers in 2015 and has since used his platforms to discuss his experiences as a transgender man, living with ADHD, LGBTQ+ rights and other issues close to his heart. This openness has helped establish a connection with listeners who value the directness of his music and his willingness to discuss subjects that are often overlooked.
With WONKY, Noah returns to a more stripped-back approach without losing the emotional intensity that defines his songwriting. Its message is straightforward but deeply personal: being different does not mean being broken, and nobody should have to reshape themselves to deserve love, acceptance or belonging.
