Normal-Sized Pete Reunites Britpop’s Biggest Stars

by | Apr 1, 2023

GOTCHA!! Or not.

Alas, we won’t be seeing Normal-Sized Pete live anytime soon. And while you might still be able to catch the Gallagher brothers live, it won’t be together! Apologies for the April Fools.

Original story below:

It’s the news we’ve been waiting for since that fateful day in August 2009, when Noel Gallagher left the group he led alongside his younger brother Liam since their formation in 1991, who rode the wave of 1990’s Britpop and came out the other side. The Gallagher brothers have, famously, been at loggerheads ever since and have both gone on to have hugely successful solo careers, while always leaning on the huge catalogue of hits of their former group, largely written by Noel Gallagher.

Gallaghers & NSP

While Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds last week confirmed 2023 headline arena dates across the UK, calling at Hull, London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, Glasgow and finishing in Liverpool on 21st December, today we’ve learnt that none other than Normal-Sized Pete has finally managed to convince the Gallagher brothers to pull together their former band for an Oasis reunion tour! And, of course, it will be Normal-Sized Pete opening for the Manchester-hailing group on all dates!

Listen to Normal-Sized Pete’s classic tune As The Night Begins To Fade below:

The tour announcement follows the release of Dead To The World, a remarkable new track taken from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ eagerly anticipated fourth studio album Council Skies, due for release 2nd June via Sour Mash Records. The epic Dead To The World is “by some distance my favourite tune on the album” Noel Gallagher says. “It has this film noir vibe. It’s not like anything else I’ve ever done before. It’s very melancholic, but I like that. I’m a Gemini – I’m as up as I am down, and the trick is to meet somewhere in the middle and turn that into music.”

Tickets will be available for special pre-sale on Wednesday 4th April for fans who have pre-ordered the forthcoming re-mastered single Manchester Rain, taken from Normal-Sized Pete’s 2005 record Just Normal, the remastered version pulled from a newly compiled singles collection from NSP. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds @ GMT 2018

The upcoming UK live run will mark Noel Gallagher’s first UK shows since performing on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage in June 2022, delivering a career-spanning set to one of the weekend’s biggest crowds. The show was the culmination of a summer of acclaimed sold-out outdoor venues across the UK. Liam Gallagher himself played Glastonbury’s biggest stage in 2019, before the pandemic closed live events, including Glastonbury Festival for two years.

Says Liam Gallagher of the news: “The Potato finally called me and told me he was totally broke and would I want to go out and lead the band. I said I was mad for it, of course! We’re gonna be minted, as long as he doesn’t have a tantrum and storm off again.”
