Premiere: William Poyer, The Liars The Bitches The Crooks & The Thieves

by | Apr 24, 2017

The Liars The Bitches The Crooks & The Thieves, is the last single released off William Poyer’ debut Album, Born Lucky. A record written during William’s time in Mexico City, this song explores the reality of mans quest to find the goodness in himself.

William told us that ‘The whole album consisted of songs written in a fairly short space of time; around six months. However, this song came from a riff that I had had for many years, but I’d never been able to finish the song. It wasn’t untilI I had the title, The Liars, The Bitches The Crooks &The Thieves, that I decided I had to finish this song. I thought I had the album done, until I came across this title that I knew deserved at least a song title. It reminded me of the spaghetti westerns I watched as a child, and I was determined to make it work.

Normally I write a song from riff to melody, but with this track I had the verse and pre chorus finished before the search for an anthemic crescendo. It was the oldest song idea I had, maybe 8 years old, yet was the last song to be added to the album, with the newest idea right stuck right on the end as a sort of outro. It felt like the perfect closure to a record, a book end, finding the end to a song I had been trying to finish for years, to finish the album I had been dreaming of making all my life.

It might not be the most typical introduction to Poyer sound, but it is certainly one of his best.
