LA-based British/Irish singer-songwriter and actor Roseanna Brown, who records under the solo mononym Roseanna, has released her brand-new single Yes, an intimate, cinematic love song inspired by her relationship with her husband, Sam.
Built around delicate acoustic guitar, the track showcases Roseanna’s expressive vocals, gradually expanding into a sweeping chorus enriched by cinematic strings. Balancing heartfelt storytelling with a grand, emotionally charged sound, Yes captures the overwhelming feeling of finding someone who makes the world feel as though it has fallen perfectly into place.
For Roseanna, the song is a deeply personal reflection on love, vulnerability and the decision to spend a life together. Rather than presenting romance as a flawless fairytale, she explores the reassurance of being loved for who you really are, imperfections included. “This song is me trying my best to capture how my husband Sam makes me feel, and how saying yes to him was the easiest and best decision I’ve ever made,” she explains.
Recalling the circumstances surrounding Sam’s proposal, Roseanna admits that she managed to disrupt his plans at almost every turn. However, the experience ultimately reinforced the message at the heart of the song: that love does not need to be perfect to be extraordinary. “It didn’t matter, and it didn’t need to be perfect. Love isn’t perfect, and we aren’t perfect, but he loves me and sees me for the real me, and beyond all the things I think are flaws in myself, somehow they don’t matter at all. It’s the safest I’ve ever felt.”
The singer also wanted to explore the experience of accepting a marriage proposal from a female perspective, capturing the sense of intimacy that comes when two people feel completely understood by one another. Her intention was to create something honest and recognisable, reflecting the private world a couple can build together.
Although her happiness has provided plenty of inspiration, Roseanna reveals that she rarely writes about it, preferring instead to immerse herself in everyday life with her husband. Yes offered an opportunity to revisit those feelings and translate them into a song. “He makes me truly happier than I’ve ever been, but I don’t write many songs about it because I’m too busy soaking up being in life with him. So I’m glad I got to revisit those feelings of how he makes me feel and put them into a song.”
The release follows Awake, an upbeat pop single released this summer alongside Roseanna’s latest feature film appearance in Pressure. The combination of new music and screen work continues to highlight the breadth of her creative career, with her music receiving radio support across the UK.
Yes is already attracting support from BBC Introducing, while Roseanna is also scheduled to appear for an interview with Patrick Kielty on BBC Radio 5 Live in November. Meanwhile, her March single Help Me has been announced for GRAMMY® consideration in the categories of Best Solo Pop Performance and Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals.
Roseanna’s international success began in part through her work as the frontwoman of The Rua, with whom she secured five Billboard Adult Pop Top 40 hits, two Billboard Dance Top 20s and two UK Dance Club Chart Top 10s. The group spent 53 weeks on US charts and supported Westlife on their UK arena tour, including three performances at The O2 in London.
Her career has also taken her to the Oscar Wilde Awards and the Isle of Wight Festival, while former US Vice President Al Gore personally selected The Rua to perform for his Climate Reality Project.
As a solo artist, Roseanna has accumulated more than 10 million combined streams as a singer and songwriter. Her releases have been premiered by BBC Introducing, with further music planned for the coming months. Her sound draws on contemporary pop songwriting and powerful vocal delivery, placing her among artists influenced by the melodic appeal of Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi and Celine Dion.
Beyond her own recordings, Roseanna has established an extensive songwriting career, with more than 60 releases across major and independent labels in genres spanning pop, country, K-pop and dance. Her credits include Kingdom, the end-title track for Michael Bay’s feature film Songbird, which she both wrote and performed.
Her work on screen is equally varied, with acting credits across productions for HBO, Disney, Warner Bros., Marvel and Amazon. Her roles include appearances in four Harry Potter films, Thor: The Dark World and Citadel, alongside her most recent work in Pressure, the Second World War drama from Focus Features directed by Anthony Maras.
With Yes, Roseanna brings these different strands of her creative life together in a song that places emotional honesty at its centre. Following a summer of renewed musical activity, the single offers another glimpse of an artist continuing to develop her solo identity while drawing on years of experience across music, songwriting and acting.
