Rising country star Sam Barber has unveiled his new single Borrowed Time, signalling the beginning of a new chapter for the multiplatinum singer-songwriter.
Released via Atlantic Music Group’s Atlantic Outpost imprint, the track finds Barber continuing to steer his creative vision with a blend of traditional country storytelling and modern sonic textures. Written by Barber and co-produced with frequent collaborator Joe Becker, the song fuses old-school country lyricism with electric rock instrumentation and folk-tinged soul.
Driven by palm-muted power chords and a moody atmosphere, Borrowed Time explores emotional fallout and personal resolve. Barber’s vocals cut through the feedback-heavy arrangement as he delivers stark lines including, “Before you leave, take your disease,” before shifting to a reflective acoustic-led bridge that suggests moving on from the past.
The new release follows the arrival of Live From 2025, which captured highlights from the singer-songwriter’s extensive touring throughout the previous year. Barber is currently continuing that momentum on his ongoing headline trek, The American Route Tour, which runs across North America through June. A major upcoming highlight will see Barber perform at the renowned Stagecoach Festival in Indio on April 24.
Still only 22, the Southeast Missouri-raised artist has quickly become one of country music’s most compelling new voices. Barber first broke through with his RIAA Gold-certified 2024 debut album Restless Mind, a sprawling 28-track project that included the 2× Platinum single Straight And Narrow and the widely streamed hit Indigo, featuring Avery Anna. The latter surpassed 700 million global streams and reached the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100.
His music has also crossed into television and film, with Better Year appearing in the hit series Yellowstone and Tear Us Apart featuring on the GRAMMY®-nominated soundtrack Twisters: The Album.
Barber continued his ascent with the 2025 EP Music For The Soul, produced by GRAMMY®-winning producer Ryan Hewitt alongside Becker. Recorded in Nashville and Bozeman, the project saw the songwriter reflecting on both the pressures of rising fame and the personal journey that brought him there.
Known for his powerful live performances, Barber has spent much of his career on the road, including the extensive Restless Mind World Tour in 2025, which took in sold-out headline shows and festival appearances across North America, the UK, Europe and Australia.
