Manchester alt-rock four-piece SerpentS return with their bold new single, Wetter Than Revenge, a high-energy, unapologetically playful track that marks another step forward for the rising band as they build towards their forthcoming EP, Let Loose & Join A Cult, due in early 2027.
Blending an infectious alt-rock sound with an attitude rooted in feminine rage, Wetter Than Revenge sees SerpentS embrace a more daring side of their songwriting. Relentless and impossible to ignore, the single arrives with a western-inspired music video, set to follow next week, promising a visual counterpart to the track’s distinctive personality.
Co-writer and vocalist Eli is clearly excited about the song’s potential, describing it as a defining moment for the band.
“This song is our Billie Jean. We were almost too scared to release it into the world because we believe this song is so powerful. It’s an alt rock feminine rage anthem with a western inspired music video – what’s not to love?”
The confidence behind Wetter Than Revenge reflects a band increasingly comfortable in their own identity. Although relatively new to the alt-rock scene, SerpentS have quickly begun making their presence felt, pairing an energetic sound with a close-knit creative partnership forged through years of friendship and playing music together.
The new single follows Midnight Murderess and the band’s debut release, Nerve, which arrived in July accompanied by an exuberant, 1980s-inspired video. Together, the tracks offer an early indication of the direction of Let Loose & Join A Cult, the band’s forthcoming EP, which is expected to arrive in 2027 and will feature material developed throughout their early years as a group.
For SerpentS, the journey has been as much about building a shared creative life as it has been about writing songs. The four members – Eli, Cerys, Josh and Kian – met at college and began making music together almost immediately. Their commitment to the project soon became all-consuming, with the band squeezing into a studio flat while searching for a house where they could live and write together.
College lessons regularly took a back seat as the group headed to the basement to work on songs, developing their sound through the kind of daily collaboration that comes from spending so much time together. Their name emerged during a particularly transformative period, when recurring snake symbolism began appearing in their lives. Taking it as a sign, they settled on SerpentS – a name that now accompanies their growing ambitions.
That shared history has helped establish a strong foundation for the band’s next chapter. Despite years of playing together on and off stage, the members now feel genuinely ready to put their music in front of a wider audience, with the forthcoming EP representing a significant milestone.
Their development has already included some remarkable opportunities. SerpentS’ first studio session as a band brought them into contact with members of two acts they had grown up admiring: Manchester favourites Pale Waves and American alt-rock trio Pvris. The experience proved surreal for the group, with the resulting, currently unreleased track set to feature on Let Loose & Join A Cult.
Away from the studio, the four-piece have been building their live reputation through headline performances, festival appearances and support slots alongside artists including Mouth Culture, Crawlers and Au/Ra. Their ability to connect with audiences has helped establish a growing following, with their next performance marking a particularly important moment in their hometown.
On 14th November, SerpentS will headline Manchester’s Soup for their debut headline show at the venue. The gig offers fans an opportunity to experience the band’s developing catalogue in a dedicated headline setting, as they continue to build momentum ahead of the 2027 EP release.
With Wetter Than Revenge, SerpentS deliver a statement of intent: playful, forceful and driven by a band whose creative chemistry has been developing for years. As the new single arrives and their first EP moves closer, the Manchester four-piece look increasingly ready to turn that close-knit history into something much bigger.
