Shed Seven continue their remarkable resurgence with the release of new single Let The Good Times Roll, the latest preview of their forthcoming seventh studio album, Shed Seven, due out on 8th January 2027 via Cooking Vinyl. The band have also confirmed that their biggest-ever headline show, at York’s LNER Community Stadium on 29th May 2027, has sold out.
The new single arrives during a particularly busy period for the York indie-rock favourites, who are currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of their landmark 1996 album A Maximum High with a run of live dates. It offers another glimpse of the range on their forthcoming record, following the release of lead single Stand Together and its follow-up, The Centre Of My Everything.
Where Stand Together established a muscular, soaring sound and The Centre Of My Everything brought sweeping strings and a rousing chorus, Let The Good Times Roll finds Shed Seven reaching for an epic scale. Its title captures a message of positivity and enjoying the good things in life, with frontman Rick Witter explaining the sentiment behind the track: “Eyes on the prize, watch silver turn to gold. Winning in life, a time to be positive and enjoy the things happening around you. Forget the negativity and Let The Good Times Roll.”
The single arrives as the band prepare for a major milestone in their hometown. Their show at York’s 14,000-capacity LNER Community Stadium on 29th May 2027 will be the biggest headline performance of their career, bringing them back to the city where their story began. They will be joined by The K’s, Reverend And The Makers and The Mersey Beatles for their stadium outing.
For Witter, the occasion represents the fulfilment of a long-held ambition. “Our ambition, even as school kids, was to one day play our own stadium show. What kid who dreams of being in a rock ’n’ roll band doesn’t want to do that? Now… almost 40 years later, we’ve reached the point where we thought… it’s now or never. And if we were going to do it, it had to be York.
“What will make it even more special is that the stadium is a stone’s throw from where we met, went to school and where we first formed a band. We’re coming back to pretty much where it all began to play the biggest show of our career and that is a proper full-circle moment.”
The stadium event will also offer a platform to emerging local talent, with a fan-zone stage featuring up-and-coming artists from York performing ahead of the main show. A special York City card-wallet CD edition of Shed Seven, featuring three bonus tracks and exclusive artwork, is available now, with proceeds supporting the York City Foundation.
The announcement comes amid a sustained period of success for Shed Seven. In 2024, the band achieved their first-ever UK Number One album with A Matter Of Time, before following it just ten months later with a second chart-topper, Liquid Gold. Securing two Number One albums within a single calendar year marked a significant achievement for a band whose influence and popularity have continued to grow across three decades.
Their forthcoming self-titled album represents the next chapter in that story. Shed Seven arrives on 8th January 2027, with pre-orders and pre-saves available now.
Alongside the album announcement and stadium show, the band will embark on an Up Close & Intimate Album Release Tour in January, performing stripped-back sets followed by signing sessions. Several dates have already sold out, although tickets remain available for the HMV Vault appearance in Birmingham on 14th January.
With their 30th-anniversary celebrations continuing, a new album on the horizon and a sold-out hometown stadium show ahead, Shed Seven are entering 2027 with their momentum showing no signs of slowing.
