Skerryvore Celebrate 20 Years With New Live Album XX – Live At Floors Castle

by | Aug 19, 2025

Celtic rock favourites Skerryvore are marking their 20th anniversary in style with the release of a new live album, Skerryvore XX – Live At Floors Castle, out now. Capturing a landmark moment in their journey from modest beginnings to global stages, the record documents the band’s spectacular anniversary concert at the historic Floors Castle in Roxburghshire, Scotland.

The one-off show drew fans from as far afield as Alaska and Australia, with 7,000 people gathering for what many described as “a celebration to remember.” Against the castle’s stunning backdrop, Skerryvore delivered a career-spanning set that reflected both their roots and their evolution over two decades.

Opening with Path To Home, the performance traced their story through early favourites like Home To Donegal and into recent highlights such as The Sea That Sings — still playlisted on BBC Radio 2. The set featured special guest appearances from The Eves, Nathan Carter and Grant Cassidy, before culminating in a show-stopping finale of Take My Hand, amplified by the pipes and drums of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Frontman Alec Dalglish reflected on the release: “We hope that this new live album encapsulates everything that was so incredible about our 20th anniversary show at Floors Castle. Celebrating with fans, friends and family from all corners of the planet made it the gig of a lifetime for us and we hope that it shines through on this recording. We’re forever grateful to everyone who has made it possible for us to get to twenty years as a band and we can’t wait to see what the next twenty brings us.”

The live record serves as both a souvenir for those present and a testament to the band’s formidable reputation as performers — underlined by their three-time win as Live Act of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards.

The concert has already been immortalised in another form: BBC Alba aired a special broadcast featuring highlights from the show, new interview footage, and performances from the supporting line-up. The programme is available now on iPlayer HERE.

The release of XX – Live At Floors Castle coincides with Skerryvore’s ambitious 80-date 20th anniversary tour, which stretches across the UK, Europe and North America. Highlights include a long sold-out night at Glasgow Barrowlands, their biggest London show to date at Islington Assembly Hall, and appearances at major U.S. festivals.

Amy Macdonald Warms A Frozen Hammersmith Apollo With Heart, Humour & Huge Hits

“Are we having a nice time so far? Are we getting a bit warmer?” Amy Macdonald grins, peering out at a Hammersmith Apollo audience bundled into coats and scarves. It’s a question that becomes a running joke throughout the night — because despite the November chill and the decidedly frugal heating, Macdonald sets about warming the 5,000-capacity venue the only way she knows how: with humour, heart, and a powerhouse performance that leaves no seat unshaken.
