Bristol punks Split Dogs have returned in full throttle with their blistering new single Rock ‘N’ Roll Business, the first taste of their forthcoming album Nice N’ Rough, set for release on 25th September.
Clocking in at just under three minutes, the track is a relentless burst of raw energy—fusing swaggering riffs, breakneck pacing and snarling attitude into a no-nonsense statement of intent. It’s a sound forged on the road, with the band’s tireless touring schedule over the past two years clearly feeding into the urgency and grit that defines the single.
Lyrically, Rock ‘N’ Roll Business takes aim at the music industry itself, reframing it through the lens of a gritty British gangster film. Frontperson Harry Martinez delivers the track with tongue-in-cheek defiance, calling out the egos, backroom dealings and chaos that come with the territory—while embracing the band’s outsider ethos.
The accompanying video leans fully into that concept, complete with classic cars, leather-clad aesthetics and a DIY spirit that mirrors the band’s approach. True to form, the production came together through a network of friends and collaborators, reinforcing Split Dogs’ fiercely independent mindset.
Recorded at a Leeds studio housed within a former Victorian police station, Nice N’ Rough promises to build on that intensity across thirteen tracks. Working alongside producer Jonah Falco, the band channel a mix of punk, glam and hard rock influences—drawing from the spirit of acts like Motörhead and The Stooges—while injecting their own modern urgency.
Beyond the riffs and attitude, the album is also set to explore deeper themes, from mental health struggles to personal resilience, delivering a record that balances chaos with catharsis. It’s a reflection of a band growing in confidence while staying true to their unfiltered roots.
With 2026 already shaping up to be a defining year, Split Dogs are hitting the road for an extensive run of headline shows, festivals and international dates—including a major European tour later in the year. If Rock ‘N’ Roll Business is anything to go by, they’re showing no signs of slowing down.
