Starlite Campbell Band bring the blues to London for the first time next week.

The Isle of Man-based group, featuring husband and wife duo Suzy Starlite and Simon Campbell, make their live debut in the UK capital at The Half Moon in Putney on 6th March 2019.

Singer-songwriters Starlite and Campbell, on bass and guitar respectively, will be joined on stage by Jonny Henderson on Hammond/Wurlitzer and Steve Gibson on drums.

Starlite Campbell Band’s 2017 debut album, Blueberry Pie, paired a classic ‘60s British blues sound in the vein of Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac and The Faces with contemporary lyrics.

Said the duo of the LP they co-wrote: “The heartbeat of blues music for us lies in the telling of life’s stories and experiences and, as songwriters, we wanted to document a musical snapshot of the flavours and feel of life today.”

Added Campbell, who produced the album: “This late 60’s thing typifies the ‘feel’ and ‘sound’ that we were aiming for on the record, but of course with a few surprises.

“I did my first guitar session at the young age of 17 in 1975, and I was terrified, marvelling at the environment and being surrounded by many fine, well-seasoned musicians, engineers and producers (including Big Jim Sullivan and Derek Lawrence) so I was lucky enough to learn first-hand from some of the music industries finest producers about recording techniques and music production.”

The album was greeted with airplay on BBC Radio 2, top 10 spots in UK, Australian, Dutch, and American blues charts, and a European Blues Awards nomination. It also resulted in widespread touring, including a headline show at Australia’s Wangaratta festival of jazz and blues.

Starlite Campbell Band are set to release their second album The Language of Curiosity in late 2019.
