Fan-powered indie four-piece The Bracknall continue their rapid rise with Got What We Came Here For, the final single from their Waiting For The Lights To Change EP, as the band prepares for its biggest UK tour to date.
The new track arrives after a year of growing momentum for the guitar-focused group, who have moved from grassroots shows to increasingly larger venues while building a dedicated following that has helped fund their releases. Their latest run includes three support dates with Embrace, alongside a major London homecoming at KOKO in December.
Fronted by brothers Jack Dacey and Harry Dacey, alongside guitarist Eddie Smith and drummer Dan Hurley, The Bracknall originally formed at Benicassim Festival in 2009. Their current trajectory has accelerated considerably over the past two years, following the release of their 2022 album Falling Out Of View and the development of a catalogue that draws on the expansive guitar sounds of Doves, The War On Drugs and Ride, alongside the songwriting traditions of The Verve, Oasis and Jamie T.
Got What We Came Here For captures the band’s journey from balancing music with day jobs to performing in increasingly prominent venues. Produced by Embrace‘s Richard McNamara, the track was recorded during the same week-long Halifax sessions that produced the rest of the Waiting For The Lights To Change EP.
Built around expansive guitars, soaring atmospherics and a strong melodic centre, the song reflects the mixture of disbelief and determination that has accompanied The Bracknall‘s gradual breakthrough. Rather than presenting success as an overnight development, it acknowledges the years of rehearsals, late nights and persistent work that have brought the band to its current position.
“I often say that there are singing bands and there are dancing bands,” says Jack Dacey. “We’re a singing band and this song reflects that, building the mood with soaring atmospherics. Lyrically it covers the hard road we’ve travelled, juggling day jobs and 2am finishes in the rehearsal room, now to be rewarded with these gigs and amazing fans. We couldn’t have imagined this two or three years ago.”
That connection between the band and its audience has become central to The Bracknall‘s story. Their supporters have contributed tens of thousands of pounds towards the production of the band’s releases, including their debut album and its 2025 follow-up. The latter reached number three on the Official Independent Albums Chart and number one on the Official Independent Breakers Chart.
The band’s latest grassroots successes, Heavy On The Feeling and What Am I To Do, have further strengthened that relationship, while their live profile continues to grow. Recent appearances at Isle Of Wight Festival, Truck Festival and Y Not? have placed the quartet in front of festival audiences alongside their expanding headline shows.
The Bracknall’s approach remains deliberately guitar-led, with memorable melodies and expansive arrangements providing the foundation for songs centred on everyday experiences and the ambitions of a band determined to build its audience organically.
Their winter schedule represents another significant step up. The group will play 12 UK dates between November and December, including appearances alongside Embrace in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Cambridge and Margate, before concluding the run with a major London show at KOKO.
For The Bracknall, the forthcoming tour offers another opportunity to translate the communal spirit of Got What We Came Here For into the live environment. Following 11 previous shows across England and Scotland, their return to London will mark another milestone in a journey that has taken the band from a long-running ambition to increasingly substantial stages.
