The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes Shares First Solo Single Since 2016 ‘Pieces Of Me’

by | Mar 7, 2025

After achieving phenomenal success with pop sensations The Wanted, Nathan Sykes powered up an equally engaging solo career with his 2016 UK Silver-certified record debut solo album Unfinished Business. Sykes has amassed over a billion streams with his solo songs, assisted by the global chart hit Over And Over Again as well as high profile tours with Alessia Cara and Little Mix. He now turns his focus back on his solo career for the first time since then with the long-awaited new single Pieces Of Me.

Sykes wrote Pieces Of Me with the track’s producer, Tobie Tripp (Michael Kiwanuka, Dave), plus David Sneddon (Lewis Capaldi, Louis Tomlinson) and Theo Hutchcraft (Calvin Harris, Måneskin). The single showcases how his voice has matured – a song with an irresistible blend of sharp pop dynamic and moody R&B balladry.

Sykes says: “I’ve been in and around music for a long time now, but it feels as though people have only seen pieces of who I am – that’s what this song is about. Pieces Of Me. Taking these ideas, whispers or rumours of what people think I am and making it feel really fun with a big old pop chorus. I’m so excited to be releasing something for the first time in over eight years and Pieces Of Me is the perfect thing for people to hear first.”

Pieces Of Me has also been released as a special smart vinyl format. This digital package hosts an NFC chip within a vinyl-style product, which features Pieces Of Me as well as providing fans with first access to another three new songs. The smart vinyl will also later be extended with further additional material.

The 31-year-old recently announced a solo show at London’s Omeara on March 10th. It sold-out almost instantly, more than three months in advance.

Sykes started work on new solo music some time ago, but the devastating news concerning his Wanted bandmate Tom Parker compelled the band to reform. They celebrated everything they had achieved together by returning to the Top 10 with Most Wanted: The Greatest Hits, which they followed with an emotionally charged arena reunion tour. Ultimately, The Wanted released two #1 singles, a further eight Top 10 hits, and four Top 10 albums – exceeding two billion streams in the process. And after Tom’s tragic passing, they topped the Singles Sales Chart with a new For Tom tribute version of Gold Forever.

Now, Nathan Sykes is finally putting the finishing touches on his new album which, with fourteen years of experience to his name, is set to be his finest work to date. Expect him to share more new music in the near future.

Trent And Atticus Nine Inch Nail It At The O2 Arena

Every act craves that strong connection with their audience – but how do you achieve this in a cavernous space like The O2 Arena, filled to the brim with around 20,000 fans (all, naturally, dressed in black)? Well, in typical belligerent style, Nine Inch Nails meet this challenge head on – treating us to a set by turns poetic and punishing, and despite the odd technical hiccup, really delivering that all important connection.
