London-based pop-rock firebrands The Wild Things have returned with their blistering new single I Can’t Wait, marking the second chapter in the band’s summer-long sonic love story.

Following June’s sultry Knock Down, Drag Out – a playful ode to lust and love in New Orleans – I Can’t Wait flips the script, capturing the messy, rage-fuelled aftermath of a love affair gone sour. From its opening line – “Hey son of a bitch, first of all, go to hell” – vocalist Sydney Rae White pulls no punches, delivering a fierce and unapologetic kiss-off over the band’s infectious, riff-heavy rock.

I Can’t Wait is part two of our love affair story, happening inside New Orleans,” White explains. “The gap between the singles is the real-time breakdown of our character’s relationship, ending in a vitriolic yet cathartic rock song. This song is a real shift for us in some really exciting ways. If Knock Down, Drag Out is a nod to our past, I Can’t Wait is a window into our future…”

The single arrives with a vibrant video directed by guitarist Rob Kendrick, bringing the post-breakup release of energy and colour to life in glorious technicolour. Adding to the sense of shared catharsis, the band have also launched The Black Heart interactive voicemail system, inviting fans to leave a message to their ex and embrace their own break-up therapy.

The Wild ThingsSydney Rae White (vocals), Rob Kendrick (guitar), Pete Wheeler (drums), and Cameron White (bass) – have already carved out an impressive reputation in the modern pop-rock landscape. Collaborations with the likes of Pete Townshend and Trixie Mattel, alongside performances at venues including Madison Square Garden, the Royal Albert Hall, and the MGM Vegas, have seen them share stages with rock royalty such as The Who, Pearl Jam, and KISS.

This September, the band will take their new material on the road for a string of UK shows, joined on all but one date by Dutch singer-songwriter Inge Lamboo. Stops include Sheffield’s Record Junkee, Newcastle’s Cluny 2, and London’s O2 Academy2 Islington.

Amy Macdonald Warms A Frozen Hammersmith Apollo With Heart, Humour & Huge Hits

“Are we having a nice time so far? Are we getting a bit warmer?” Amy Macdonald grins, peering out at a Hammersmith Apollo audience bundled into coats and scarves. It’s a question that becomes a running joke throughout the night — because despite the November chill and the decidedly frugal heating, Macdonald sets about warming the 5,000-capacity venue the only way she knows how: with humour, heart, and a powerhouse performance that leaves no seat unshaken.
