The XCERTS Announce 2026/27 Headline UK Tour

Aberdeen trio The XCERTS announce a nine-date UK headline tour for January and February 2027, supporting their sixth studio album i think i want to go home now., released earlier this year via FLG Records.

The run will take the band across England and Scotland, including dates in Brighton, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Stirling, London and Southampton, as they return to the road for their first headline tour in support of the new record.

The announcement follows a busy summer for The XCERTS, who have continued to bring the album to audiences through festival appearances and in-store performances, including a full-album playthrough at 2000 Trees.

Vocalist and songwriter Murray Macleod says the band deliberately allowed the album time to settle before embarking on their first headline run in support of it. The extended gap has only increased their anticipation at getting back into venues, with the forthcoming shows set to draw not only from i think i want to go home now. but from the band’s wider catalogue.

The trio also plan to revisit material from throughout their career, promising a set that spans their six-album catalogue rather than focusing exclusively on their latest release.

i think i want to go home now. represents a particularly personal chapter in The XCERTS’ history. Written collectively by Macleod, bassist Jordan Smith and drummer Tom Heron in a room together for the first time since the band’s early records, the album emerged from two years marked by significant personal upheaval.

During the writing and recording process, Smith experienced the death of his mother, while Macleod’s father was diagnosed with cancer and the vocalist also went through the end of a long-term relationship.

Those experiences feed into a record that finds The XCERTS stripping their songwriting back to something more immediate and emotionally exposed. Recorded by Larry Hibbitt at Beehive Studios, the album reconnects with the raw, urgent character of the band’s early work while retaining the perspective gained from more than a decade of making records and touring.

The new material represents a deliberate shift away from the increasingly polished textures of some of the band’s more recent releases, returning instead to the energy and directness associated with albums such as In The Cold Wind We Smile, Scatterbrain and There Is Only You. That sense of immediacy should translate naturally to the live environment, particularly as The XCERTS prepare to place the new material alongside songs from across their career.

Before the headline run, the band will also appear as support for Royal Blood at The Brighton Centre in December, providing an early opportunity to hear the trio back on a larger stage. The UK headline tour begins in Brighton on 23rd January before travelling to Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle. The Scottish leg then takes in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Stirling, before the band return south for London and Southampton.

Artist pre-sale tickets are available from Wednesday 7th October at 10am BST, with general sale beginning Friday 9th October at 10am BST.
