Tors Share Miracle EP Cut Still Life

by | Apr 27, 2024

Rapidly rising indie trio Tors have released their new EP Miracle alongside an animated visual for the new focus track Still Life. Previewed by four songs – the title track, Tell You, Happy Enough and Only For You – the campaign has taken Tors to new heights. Between their strongest set of songs to date and their naturalistic acapella performances, they achieved millions of views and immense growth at socials, as well as fresh support at BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2. Meanwhile, they proved their arena-ready credentials with a huge European tour as special guests to James Blunt.

Tors recorded Miracle during three visits to Woodstock to collaborate with producer Simone Felice (Noah Kahan, The Lumineers, Jade Bird), and the mix of an inspiring collaborator and the scenery and history of the area helped bring out the best in them. They also shared a mutual appreciation with Felicepraising their “emotional singalongs that have the power to heal and unite souls.”

All six songs were written by the band, who shared three-part vocal harmonies and multi-instrumentalist duties. That innate talent is in the blood:  brothers Matt and Theo Weedon are the grandchildren of ‘Play In A Day’ guitar legend Burt Weedon OBE, while Jack Bowden’s mother and sister are both music teachers.

Tors explain: “The Miracle EP is the truest form of Tors we’ve ever released, a body of work that finally feels and sounds like the band we are in our heads. We recorded it buried in the wild forests and hills of Woodstock, New York with Simone Felice – the creative process was a whirlwind of noise, laughter and cutting the bullshit till we knew what we were looking for and the mission became clear. We  got to see the studio in blistering summer, bone-rattling snow and everything in between. Something about the magical environment and Simone’s undeniable mentorship inspired us to record the strongest songs we’ve released to date. We are so excited for this EP to be out in the world and can’t wait for what’s next.”

The EP’s new focus track Still Life shines with the spirit of Woodstock. An upbeat guitar laden anthem, it’s a song that feels built for epic road trips into the great unknown – yet for all its inspiring feeling, it’s very much a song that mourns a relationship as it drifts into its final moment. Watch the visualiser below:

Tors add: “Still Life is a song about realising you’re in a relationship stuck on autopilot. You’re both going through the motions of what you’ve been told love looks like and you’re comfortable but you’re not truly happy. It’s your last rallying call to arms, knowing that if you don’t work to change things now you might stay this way forever”.

The six-track Miracle EP is completed by a second new song in the shape of Heavy Hearts. Representative of the growing scale, stature and evocative beauty of Tors’ sound, it captures the heartbreak of being physically so close to someone yet at the same time being separated by a chasm of emotions.

Heavy Hearts is an apology of sorts written during a really difficult period of our lives where we were forced to own our mistakes and stop running with our eyes closed. It’s a song about begging the person you love to forgive the parts of you you’re the most ashamed of and the most scared to show”.

Tors will celebrate the EP’s release with a special performance and signing session at Rough Trade East on 2nd May, with tickets available HERE. Their growing reputation in the live arena has seen the majority of their upcoming UK tour sell-out in advance, while all of next month’s North American headline shows have done likewise. Demand for tickets has been particularly phenomenal for their European shows in September, with almost all shows either sold-out or upgraded.

Maya Lane On The Hurt And The Healing: From Vulnerability to Growth

On a rain-soaked evening in London, rising singer-songwriter Maya Lane celebrated the release of her brand-new EP The Hurt And The Healing with an intimate show at The Grace. Just weeks earlier, we had met under sunnier skies at The Long Road Festival, beers and whiskies in hand, denim and sunshine everywhere. Now, umbrellas and storm clouds in tow, it felt fitting that Lane’s new project, a record that navigates through storms towards moments of calm, should arrive on a night like this.
