by | Mar 20, 2023

The powerful emotions and timeless songwriting behind Toronto-hailing indie-trio Wild Rivers, continues to earn the discovery they fully deserve now with over half a billion streams across tracks. Recently nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year at Canada’s JUNO Awards, the band are also confirmed to embark upon a high-profile summer North American tour as special guests to The Chicks. The tour demonstrates Wild Rivers’ rising status as its other special guests are Country star Maren Morris and genre-bending Ben Harper.

Wild RiversThe trio – comprised of Devan Glover (vocals), Khalid Yassein (vocals and guitar), and Andrew Oliver (guitar and keyboards) – have announced details of a UK headline tour, highlights of which include a London show at Lafayette as well as a set at the Moseley Folk & Arts Festival. Their debut UK tour last summer was entirely sold-out, including two London shows at Oslo.Wild Rivers’ say: “Last year in Europe was maybe our favourite tour ever. There’s no better feeling than finding your fans far from home, singing along to your music. We’re coming back this fall and will break ground in some new cities too. Can’t wait to be back soon.”

Wild Rivers have grown in stature with each release and have already exceeded 300 million streams. Fans first fell for their expertly crafted harmonies and introspective lyricism with their self-titled album, before last year’s follow-up Sidelines, co-produced by Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Sharon Van Etten), saw them focus on the transitional experiences that emerge in your mid-twenties. Big moments during their touring in support of the album included a headline show at Toronto’s Massey Hall, as well as festivals stretching from Bonnaroo to The Great Escape.

They started 2023 by releasing the new song Don’t, which you can check out below:

Gone are the sparkled cowgirls and pop princesses of previous BST gigs. It’s the turn of the Baby Boomer generation to make up the core crowd of Hyde Park – a sea of grey hair, straw hats, and sensible shoes. They reapply sun cream religiously, have brought picnic blankets, and can be forgiven for taking their time getting up and down from the ground between acts. This is the generation that invented outdoor rock and folk festivals – and they’re here to show the rest of us how it’s done.
