Amy Macdonald Shares Empowering New Single ‘I’m Done (Games That You Play)’

by | Oct 8, 2025

Amy Macdonald continues her remarkable run as one of the UK’s most enduring singer-songwriters with the release of her new single, I’m Done (Games That You Play), taken from her latest Top 10 album Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For? Following the record’s debut at #8 on the UK Albums Chart, Amy extends her winning streak — all six of her albums to date have landed in the Top 10. The new single arrives as she prepares to embark on a major UK and Ireland headline tour this November, with many dates already sold out.

A fan favourite from the album, I’m Done (Games That You Play) pairs Amy’s signature soaring vocals with an energetic, acoustic-driven pop-rock sound. The song explores the emotional complexity of letting go — recognising when a friendship or relationship has run its course and finding empowerment in moving forward.

“‘I’m Done’ is ultimately a song about life and friendships and having to make hard decisions; sometimes you just have to walk away,” Amy explains. “It was written on the first day I met Nico [producer Nicolas Rebscher]. I’d never written with someone I didn’t know before, but he immediately put me at ease — the lyrics just came naturally.”

Produced by Nicolas Rebscher (Alice Merton) and GRAMMY®-winner Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys), Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For? captures Amy at her most honest and revitalised — blending heartfelt lyricism with the anthemic energy that has defined her career.

Alongside the new single, Amy has announced a special 15th anniversary reissue of her acclaimed second album A Curious Thing, set for release on National Album Day, 18th October. The limited-edition double vinyl includes the original album on pink vinyl and a second disc featuring new orchestral versions recorded with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Orchestra.

This summer, Amy played a string of major shows across Europe — adding to the five million fans who have seen her live — and delighted crowds with a surprise secret set at Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival. Her upcoming UK and European tour is already seeing extraordinary demand, with multiple sold-out dates and two huge homecoming shows at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro, performing to more than 28,000 fans across both nights.
