Portrayal Of Guilt Announce New Album ‘…Beginning Of The End’ And Unleash Double Single

by | Mar 4, 2026

Austin extremists Portrayal Of Guilt have announced their fourth studio album, …Beginning Of The End, set for release on 24th April. To mark the announcement, the trio have shared two new tracks — Ecstasy and Human Terror — offering the first glimpse into their latest sonic evolution.

A band that has treated every release as a creative rebirth, Portrayal Of Guilt once again refuse to stand still. …Beginning Of The End sees them embracing both groove and avant-garde experimentation, revisiting the teeth-gnashing ferocity of their earlier work while incorporating flashes of nu-metal, alternative rock, trip-hop and dark ambient. The result feels less like a departure and more like a distillation — a culmination of nearly a decade spent traversing the bleakest corners of heavy music.

The double single highlights the album’s dynamic range. Ecstasy arrives with a sinister, shadow-drenched video directed by Craig Murray, channelling menace through stark visuals and suffocating atmosphere. In contrast, Human Terror expands outward, pairing serrated riffs and pummelling percussion with unsettling textures that hint at the record’s broader experimental palette.

Since emerging with their debut Let Pain Be Your Guide, Portrayal Of Guilt  have built a reputation on boundary-pushing intensity — fusing nihilistic hardcore, black metal and screamo with industrial, sludge and post-metal influences. Subsequent releases, including We Are Always Alone and CHRISTFCKER*, further eroded genre lines, while later projects saw the band reimagine their sound through classical arrangements and EBM/goth-inspired electronics. Through it all, their uncompromising vision has remained intact.

…Beginning Of The End was recorded and mixed by Phillip Odom between March and June 2025, with mastering handled by Will Yip. It marks the band’s fourth album in eight years and their third collaboration with Run For Cover Records.

Alongside the album news, Portrayal Of Guilt  have announced an extensive North American headline tour beginning with a hometown send-off show at Mohawk in Austin on 9th May. The run will see them joined by the likes of Street Sects, pageninetynine, Taraneh, Halloween and The Infinity Ring on select dates.

With …Beginning Of The End, Portrayal Of Guilt continue to prove that their creative peak is a constantly shifting target — and they remain intent on chasing it into the darkest of territories.
