Angel Du$t are showing no signs of slowing down as they share I’m The Outside, a new single and video taken from their forthcoming album COLD 2 THE TOUCH, due for release on 13th February. The track arrives as the band gear up for a major touring run and marks another bold chapter in the ever-evolving story of one of modern hardcore’s most singular bands.
Clocking in at just 26 minutes, COLD 2 THE TOUCH is a concise but explosive statement, distilling Angel Du$t’s identity into a blast of aggressive, eclectic rock & roll that refuses to conform to narrow genre boundaries. I’m The Outside exemplifies that approach perfectly, lurching from galloping punk rhythms into a hulking, grunge-heavy riff before collapsing into a breakdown rooted firmly in the band’s hardcore DNA. It’s a track that feels both confrontational and self-assured, underlining the band’s belief that authenticity comes from standing apart rather than fitting in.
The single follows previously released tracks DU$T, Cold 2 The Touch, The Knife, and The Beat, each revealing a different facet of the album’s sound. Together, they paint a picture of a band equally comfortable with blunt-force aggression, massive hooks, experimental textures, and moments of unexpected melody.
COLD 2 THE TOUCH follows 2023’s BRAND NEW SOUL and reunites the band with producer and engineer Brian McTernan, who worked on much of Angel Du$t’s early material and has a long history of shaping influential hardcore records. The album also marks the first release to feature new members Nick Lewis on drums and Jim Carroll on guitar, the latter bringing experience from bands including American Nightmare, Suicide File and The Hope Conspiracy. Their addition has helped make this the most collaborative Angel Du$t record to date.
That communal spirit extends to the album’s guest appearances, which draw from across the hardcore and punk spectrum. Contributions come from Scott Vogel (Terror), Wes Eisold (American Nightmare, Cold Cave), Patrick Cozens (Restraining Order), Frank Carter, and Taylor Young (Twitching Tongues, Deadbody), adding further weight and personality to an already formidable record.
At the heart of Angel Du$t remains vocalist and creative force Justice Tripp, whose philosophy continues to drive the band forward. “Angel Du$t is rock & roll,” he states plainly — a sentiment that runs throughout COLD 2 THE TOUCH. Lyrically, the album grapples with themes of identity, purpose, and the finite nature of life, balancing existential reflection with an unflinching embrace of intensity and confrontation. As Tripp puts it, the band is committed to playing aggressive rock & roll, unapologetically and on their own terms.
With COLD 2 THE TOUCH, Angel Du$t once again blur the lines between punk, hardcore and rock & roll, proving that evolution doesn’t mean abandoning aggression — it means finding new ways to weaponise it. I’m The Outside stands as a defiant mission statement, setting the tone for an album that promises to be one of the band’s most ferocious and fully realised releases yet.
