Airy, heartfelt and rich with imagery, Halfway Round The World captures the fragile excitement of a blossoming relationship. Built on Walton’s signature melodic sensibility, the track drifts between intimacy and wide-eyed wonder, reflecting her distinctly visual approach to songwriting. “I view these songs as being on a high-up plain,” Walton explains. “My reality a lot of the time is of walking around with my head in the clouds so that, to me, is normal.”

The single follows Sorry Anyway, Walton’s vibrant first solo release, and further opens the world of Tell Me It’s A Dream—a record rooted in themes of love, creativity and emotional freedom. Initially sparked during lockdown sessions with Sam E Yamaha, the album was later reshaped as Walton’s songwriting evolved, before being co-produced alongside David Wrench, known for his work with Frank Ocean, Jamie xx and FKA twigs.

Recorded at StudiOwz in Wales, the album features a collaborative cast including guitarist John Victor, bassist Kam Khan and drummer Elena Costa, with Jenny Hollingworth appearing on standout track Prettier Things. Across its tracklist, Walton leans into recurring motifs of light, colour and open skies, creating a sound that feels expansive yet deeply personal.

Walton first emerged as one half of Let’s Eat Grandma, forming the project with Hollingworth as teenagers and earning critical acclaim with releases including I’m All Ears. Beyond the band, she has also made a significant solo impact—most notably with I Really Want To Stay At Your House, written for Cyberpunk 2077, which has amassed hundreds of millions of streams.

With Tell Me It’s A Dream, Walton frames her solo debut as a statement of intent. “It’s about being ambitious and seeing enhanced beauty in the world,” she says. “A lot of the attitude in these songs is about following your dreams.”

To celebrate the album’s release, Walton has announced a run of UK instores alongside a September headline tour, bringing her new material to intimate venues across the country.
