Rising Dublin post-punk outfit Basht. have unveiled their blistering new single Terror TV, offering another compelling preview of their eagerly anticipated debut album Poor Advice, due for release on 9th October via LAB Records.
Following the brooding intensity of previous singles Keira Knightley and Perfume, the quartet continue to sharpen their distinctive sound with a track that channels frustration, information overload and political uncertainty into a relentless two-minute post-punk assault. Combining urgent guitars, pounding rhythms and emotionally charged vocals, Terror TV captures the feeling of trying to process a world that seems to spiral further into chaos every time we refresh a news feed.

Frontman Jack Leavey explains that the song emerged from the overwhelming experience of witnessing global events unfold through screens, where an endless cycle of conflict and shifting political narratives has become impossible to escape: “Terror TV is about trying to make sense of what we’ve been watching unfold on our screens over the past few years. It’s about the endless loop of tit-for-tat conflicts, the footage that blurs together numbing our sensitivity, and how quickly the ground seems to shift under our feet.”
Rather than offering simple answers, the track reflects the exhaustion and emotional fatigue of living in an era where headlines move at relentless speed and certainty feels increasingly elusive.
Produced by Ali Chant—whose previous work includes acclaimed recordings with Dry Cleaning, Perfume Genius and PJ Harvey—Poor Advice promises to be one of the year’s most thought-provoking debut albums. Across its ten tracks, Basht. explore the long shadow cast by institutional power in Ireland, drawing connections between the country’s historical relationship with church and state and the modern forces that continue to shape everyday life.
Leavey describes the record as an examination of authority and the consequences of unquestioningly accepting those in positions of power. The album moves from Ireland’s past, where religious and political influence often dictated deeply personal decisions, into contemporary society, where corporate interests, conflict and global power structures continue to influence ordinary lives.
Musically, Basht. balance moments of restraint with explosive crescendos, transforming deeply reflective themes into expansive, emotionally charged songs. It’s an approach that has steadily earned them a devoted following across Ireland and the UK.
Their reputation has grown considerably through a series of captivating live performances, sharing stages with the likes of Everything Everything, Wunderhorse and DEADLETTER, while also making standout appearances at festivals including The Great Escape, Truck Festival, Dot To Dot, Liverpool Sound City, Live At Leeds and Other Voices.
With Poor Advice set to arrive this autumn, the band will spend the coming months taking their powerful live show across the UK and Europe, including festival appearances before embarking on a headline run in October and November.
