Rising Scottish singer-songwriter Blair Davie has unveiled their newest single Wouldn’t Be Right, an infectious yet tender anthem released today via Giant Music. Fusing upbeat melodies with introspective lyrics, the track builds on Davie’s growing reputation as one of the UK’s most emotionally honest and promising new voices.

Offering a message of gratitude, resilience and love, Wouldn’t Be Right is a celebration of finding joy in life’s smallest moments. “It might not be perfect all of the time, but with any other human, it wouldn’t be right,” Davie sings, their voice as vulnerable as it is bold. The result is a shimmering ode to connection — both romantic and human — that will resonate with anyone who has found magic in the everyday.

Wouldn’t Be Right is the realisation that it doesn’t matter what you have, it’s who you have,” Davie shared. “I used to dream of the big house on the hill, money in the bank and being able to do the weekly food shop at M&S. Maybe I’ll get there one day, but I’ve found someone who makes the smallest moments feel like everything.”

They continue: “Movie nights in, homemade pasta bakes and going to free museums for date days. We don’t need lots of money, we don’t need to climb the ladder. I’ve never truly felt like that before. With any other human, it wouldn’t be right. It’s always been you.”

The single follows Butterflies, a vulnerable ballad exploring themes of enduring love, and continues a run of releases that has seen Davie championed for their honest songwriting and emotional openness. That raw lyrical edge has already earned them critical attention, with Amazon Music naming them the UK’s Rising Star and an Ivor Novello Award nomination coming in 2023 — all by the age of 23.

The release comes in the midst of Davie’s biggest run of live shows to date, The Butterflies Tour. The UK leg included standout performances at London’s Strongroom and The Grace (supporting Jasmine Thompson), and Brighton’s Black Lion. Davie has since taken their heartfelt sound across Europe with appearances at Oberkampf Music Festival in Paris, the Netherlands’ Limelight Sessions, and Germany’s Haldern Pop Bar.

Closer to home, Davie recently returned to their Scottish roots with a run of intimate shows including dates in Skye, Inverness, Aberdeen, Perth and Stirling. The tour wraps up with a special support slot for The Paper Kites at Amsterdamse Bostheater on 21st July.

Having already toured with names like JP Cooper, Emeli Sandé, Sam Fischer and Fatherson, and earned slots at key festivals including The Great Escape, Live at Leeds, Belladrum and Sziget, Blair Davie’s rise shows no sign of slowing. They’ve sold out venues such as London’s Laylow and The Slaughtered Lamb, and their deeply relatable lyrics have helped amass a loyal online following of over 32K fans across Instagram and TikTok.

With a string of acclaimed singles including Stairs, Platform 10, and Him, Hymn, Blair Davie continues to carve out their place in the alt-pop landscape — not with flash or artifice, but with truth, craft, and a voice that says what so many feel.
