Fast-rising singer-songwriter Cameron Whitcomb has announced the release of his long-awaited debut album, The Hard Way, set to arrive on 26th September.
Alongside the announcement, Whitcomb has released the album’s latest single, Fragile, a tender and introspective track exploring the hope of finding someone who can love you despite the scars of the past. The song was produced by frequent collaborator Jack Riley and co-written with Riley, Nolan Sipe and Cal Shapiro.
The upcoming album sees Whitcomb opening up about his turbulent journey, charting experiences from early struggles with addiction to recovery and adulthood. Known for his candid songwriting, the 21-year-old artist transforms deeply personal stories into emotionally powerful songs that blend folk, country and alternative influences.
Whitcomb is currently celebrating the upcoming release with his biggest run of live shows to date. His extensive tour schedule includes major festival appearances and sold-out headline dates across North America and Europe, with the European and UK leg of his Hundred Mile High Tour taking place throughout late summer.
Following the European shows, Whitcomb will return to the US to launch his I’ve Got Options Tour, which begins on 26th September in Portland. The run already includes a sold-out two-night stand at the legendary Troubadour in West Hollywood.
Whitcomb’s rise over the past two years has been rapid. With more than 400 million global streams and millions of followers across social media platforms, he has been widely tipped as one of the most exciting new artists in modern folk and country. His single Gasoline & Matches continued that momentum earlier this year, following the breakout hit Bad Apple, which debuted as one of the most-added tracks at US alternative radio upon release.
Other recent highlights include the anthemic Hundred Mile High and the acoustic version of fan favourite Medusa, the original of which has amassed more than 150 million global streams.
Whitcomb first gained widespread attention with his debut EP Quitter, released in 2024. The project, partly inspired by his journey to sobriety, featured the acclaimed title track Quitter, which marked his first appearance on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100.
Originally from Vancouver Island, Whitcomb’s path to music was unconventional. After leaving home at 17 to work on a pipeline, he began sharing cover songs online before gaining wider attention following an appearance on American Idol, where he reached the Top 20 during the show’s 20th season. Since then, he has quickly built a reputation as one of the most compelling young songwriters of his generation.
