Accompanied by a striking new music video, the latest single continues to showcase a band operating at the height of their creative powers. Blending soaring alternative rock, expansive atmospherics and vocalist Mat Kerekes’ unmistakably emotive delivery, I Can See You From Here balances intimacy with anthemic intensity, reinforcing why Citizen remain one of the most respected names in modern rock.

The track follows previously released singles Halcyon Blues and Highs And Lows, further building anticipation for an album that draws together nearly two decades of musical evolution into what promises to be one of the band’s most complete statements to date.

Since emerging from Toledo, Ohio almost 20 years ago, Citizen have consistently refused to remain confined to a single genre. Their journey has seen them evolve from emotionally raw emo and post-hardcore beginnings through expansive alternative rock, indie textures and garage-inspired songwriting, all while retaining the honesty and vulnerability that has defined their music from the outset. Rather than chasing trends, the band have carved out a career built on steady artistic growth and an unwavering commitment to following their own instincts.

Reflecting on the band’s philosophy, guitarist Nick Hamm explains: “A lot of bands try to do anything they can to be the hottest thing of the moment and we’ve just never operated like that. We don’t think in moments, or months, or record cycles. I see Citizen as this long-term creative project where there’s always somewhere new to go.”

That long-term mindset is evident throughout Halcyon Blues. Recorded by Mat Kerekes before being mixed by renowned producer Tom Lord-Alge—whose credits include U2, Weezer and Blink-182—the album combines the urgency of Citizen’s early catalogue with the expansive melodies and polished songwriting that have become hallmarks of their more recent work.

The result is an album that doesn’t simply revisit previous eras of the band’s sound but instead unites them into something cohesive and unmistakably Citizen. From driving guitars to lush soundscapes and deeply personal lyricism, Halcyon Blues appears poised to celebrate every chapter of the band’s evolution while pointing confidently towards the future.

To coincide with the album’s release, Citizen will embark on an extensive world tour spanning North America, Europe, the UK and Australia. The UK leg arrives this October with support from Modern Color and thistle., bringing the band to five cities before the tour continues across mainland Europe.

Nearly two decades into their career, Citizen continue to prove that longevity comes not from standing still, but from embracing change. With Halcyon Blues, the band look set to deliver another defining chapter in a catalogue that has continually evolved while remaining true to its emotional core.
