Legendary hardcore innovators Converge have announced an extensive UK and European headline tour for November 2026, continuing an already relentless year that has seen the band release not one, but two full-length albums and reaffirm their status as one of heavy music’s most uncompromising creative forces.
The newly announced run follows a packed summer of festival appearances and headline performances in support of their latest album, Hum Of Hurt, the band’s second studio release of 2026. Alongside the tour announcement, Converge have also unveiled the haunting new video for album track It Used To Matter, a cinematic visual companion that perfectly mirrors the track’s brooding atmosphere and slow-burning intensity.
The instrumental piece stands as one of the album’s most unsettling moments, gradually building tension through layers of crushing guitars and ominous ambience. The accompanying video leans into that sense of unease, creating an abstract and unsettling visual narrative that reflects the emotional weight running throughout Hum of Hurt.
The album itself draws inspiration from the mysterious phenomenon known as “The Hum”—a real-world low-frequency sound reportedly heard in locations across the globe, from Massachusetts to New Zealand and beyond. While scientists have never definitively explained its origins, vocalist Jacob Bannon reimagines it as something altogether more symbolic. “What if ‘The Hum’ is the culmination of all the pain in the world, creating an audible signal across the universe?” Bannon asks. “Something noticeable to others operating on a similar emotional plane.”
That concept forms the emotional core of Hum Of Hurt, an album that explores grief, anxiety, empathy and the ever-growing weight of modern existence. While its predecessor, Love Is Not Enough, leaned heavily into metallic aggression, Bannon describes the new record as occupying a different emotional space.
“The unifying musical idea early on was, ‘Let’s make a noise rock album.’ But we never really did. It leans more into being an emotional hardcore album, while Love Is Not Enough feels like the more metal-leaning record. In the end, we simply gave creative birth to another Converge record with its own unique identity.”
Recorded and mixed once again by guitarist Kurt Ballou at his renowned GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts, Hum Of Hurt showcases the band continuing to evolve more than three decades into their career. Ballou’s unmistakable production captures every abrasive texture and fragile moment, allowing the record’s emotional intensity to breathe without sacrificing the band’s trademark ferocity. Artwork for the album sees Bannon once again collaborating with acclaimed British artist Thomas Hooper, further extending the visual identity surrounding the record.
This November, Converge will bring both of this year’s albums to stages across Europe and the UK on a major headline tour. Joining them throughout the run are death metal heavyweights Sanguisugabogg, atmospheric black metal outfit Blackbraid, and UK mathcore torchbearers Pupil Slicer, promising one of the heaviest touring packages of the year.
The UK leg concludes with a headline performance at London’s Electric Brixton, giving fans an opportunity to experience material from both Love Is Not Enough and Hum Of Hurt alongside classics spanning Converge’s influential career.
