Corella Unleash Explosive New Single ‘Thunder Strike’ Ahead Of ‘A Beautiful World To Lose’

Manchester indie-rock favourites Corella have shared the thunderous new single Thunder Strike, offering another powerful preview of their forthcoming second album, A Beautiful World To Lose, due for release on 18th September.

Written alongside Circa Waves frontman Kieran Shudall, Thunder Strike captures the exhilaration, uncertainty and relentless ambition that comes with pursuing life in a band. Driven by soaring hooks, muscular guitars and an arena-sized chorus, the track balances indie-rock immediacy with a harder-edged intensity, reflecting the band’s increasingly expansive sound.

Frontman Joel Smith describes the song as a celebration of chasing dreams despite the inevitable setbacks.: “It’s about chasing the highs in the music world, running headfirst into the storm even when you know it might hit hard,” Smith explains. “It captures the relentless drive to chase success and the rush that comes with it — the late nights, the risk and the thrill, even if it leads to chaos.”

Shudall, who co-wrote the track after touring with the band, says the goal was simple: create something huge: “After watching the lads live each night when we toured together, I knew we needed to make a massive song. Something that jumps out the speakers and opens up a mosh pit.”

Accompanying the single is an ambitious new video directed by Giles Edward-N, whose previous work includes collaborations with Coldplay and Bad Boy Chiller Crew. Set inside an abandoned grand theatre, the visually striking clip combines ballet performance with surreal, shifting imagery as Corella perform amid the ghostly aftermath of a show, perfectly complementing the song’s themes of ambition and chaos.

Thunder Strike continues to build anticipation for A Beautiful World To Lose, following previously released singles Rewire, Bitter End and Simple Life. Together they hint at a record that explores frustration, heartbreak, politics and personal resilience while delivering some of the band’s biggest and boldest songs to date.

The album was produced by Jason Perry (Don Broco, McFly, The Molotovs) and sees Corella sharpening the indie foundations that established them into something heavier, more confident and sonically expansive. Across ten tracks, the band tackle themes of loss, disillusionment and modern anxieties while maintaining the infectious melodic hooks that have helped them amass more than 70 million streams and establish themselves as one of the UK’s fastest-rising indie acts.

Since releasing their debut album, Corella have built an impressive live reputation through sold-out headline tours and festival appearances including Reading & Leeds, while sharing stages with Kaiser Chiefs, Pale Waves, Circa Waves and The Wombats. Their new material appears tailor-made to continue that momentum.

To celebrate the album’s release, the band have also announced a special UK instore/outstore tour beginning on release day.
