Following the title track Wear & Tear, the new single showcases another side of Beckham’s evolving sound, pairing muscular guitar riffs, soaring melodies and live-band energy with an infectious chorus designed for festival crowds.

Recorded alongside his band The Breakers, Seeing Red was produced by Justin Raisen and Lewis Pesacov, whose previous work with artists including Kim Gordon, Joji and Charli XCX has helped shape the EP’s raw yet polished sound. Built with the live stage firmly in mind, the track captures the excitement and spontaneity that Beckham has been developing through his recent performances.

Despite its intensity, Seeing Red approaches frustration with a sense of humour. “Seeing red is a comedic take on a totally unserious moment of frustration, in this case in sports,” Beckham explains. “Everyone’s competitive nature likes to take over now and then, but it’s all fun and games. Seeing Red is a nod to that exact turning point.”

The six-track Wear & Tear EP represents Beckham’s first major body of work and explores the shared emotional experiences that connect people, from moments of joy and love to heartbreak, jealousy and personal growth.

Discussing the project, Beckham says the title reflects the marks life leaves on everyone: “Wear & Tear is synonymous with a life lived and all your life experiences so far — the good and the bad, the learning curves and everything in between. No matter how different every human experience is, we’ve all experienced emotions that make us human. We’ve all got our wear and tear.”

Seeing Red follows a steady stream of releases that have introduced listeners to Beckham’s musical identity. Tracks including Optics, Lick The Toad, For Your Love, Waste Your Pain, Yeah Yeah Yeah and Wear & Tear have established an artist whose influences span indie rock, psych-pop and alternative guitar music while placing an emphasis on authentic live performance.

Earlier this year, Beckham completed his debut UK headline tour with The Breakers, culminating in three sold-out nights at London’s Courtyard Theatre. The performances earned widespread praise for their musicianship and energy, helping establish Beckham as more than simply a new name on the scene, but an emerging songwriter and performer carving out his own musical path.

The release of Wear & Tear arrives ahead of Beckham’s first US headline tour and a busy summer of festival appearances on both sides of the Atlantic, including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Rock’N’Roll Circus and Reading & Leeds Festivals.
