Rising alt-rock five-piece Culture Wars continue their momentum with the release of their new single In The Morning, a groove-laden, ’90s-tinged track that marks a key creative moment for the band. The song lands just days before the group make their UK headline debut at O2 Academy Islington on 27th November, a show that has already sold out.
In The Morning leans into the hazy emotional space between desire and loneliness, capturing the early-morning vulnerability of wanting someone you know you shouldn’t. “It’s that feeling of trying to convince someone (who probably shouldn’t) to come over and make you a little less lonely,” says vocalist Alex Dugan. “Written as my former self — I’m very happily married now.”
The band describe the track as a turning point in shaping the sound of their forthcoming debut album, set for release in early 2026. Influenced by the expansive atmosphere of their recent arena support slot for LANY in the Philippines, Culture Wars channelled that cinematic scale into the studio. “The mix and production changed the way we hear the album — it’s now dictating where we’re headed sonically,” they share. “The new album will follow this sound.”
Built on velvety rhythms and ’90s-inspired guitar work, In The Morning fuses groove and introspection into a track that feels raw, reflective and unmistakably human.
It’s been a landmark year for Culture Wars: a Top 20 breakthrough at U.S. Alternative Radio with It Hurts, over 8 million streams on fan favourite Typical Ways, and support slots with Keane, Wallows, and LANY. With sold-out headline shows across New York, Los Angeles, London, Chicago and Houston, the band are cementing themselves as one of alt-rock’s most exciting and fast-rising prospects.
Culture Wars headline O2 Academy Islington on 27th November, with further U.S. dates to follow.
