London-via-Portugal duo Electron return with their latest single, Taken, featuring guest vocals from Skindred frontman Benji Webbe, as they continue the countdown to their forthcoming second album, Is This Worth Living For?.
Set for release on 2nd October 2026, the album sees Jason Payne and Joanna Hyde push their hybrid of post-grunge, metalcore and alternative rock into increasingly dark and immersive territory, confronting the pressures of modern life through crushing riffs, electronic textures and raw, emotionally charged vocals.

Taken arrives at full force, pairing Payne’s aggrieved vocals and screams with Webbe’s unmistakable ragga-metal delivery. Pounding drums, dark synths and heavy guitar riffs build the track into a visceral response to the frustrations and pressures that can accumulate until they reach breaking point.
For Payne, the song is deliberately cathartic. “Sometimes you just have one of those days where it feels like everything weighs too much on you,” he says. “You’re angry, annoyed, and it feels like the world is out to get you. This is just us having fun and raising our middle finger to the world and all its bullshit.”
The collaboration with Webbe adds another dimension to Electron’s confrontational sound, with his distinctive vocal style cutting through the duo’s heavier attack. The result is a track that embraces frustration rather than attempting to disguise it, turning everyday aggravation into an explosive piece of alternative metal.
Taken is the latest preview of Is This Worth Living For?, an album that examines the pressures of conformity, the pursuit of superficial perfection and the isolating effects of modern life. Produced by GRAMMY®-nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda, the record builds on Electron’s established sound while creating a broad sonic landscape in which heavy instrumentation and electronic elements collide. Payne handles vocals and guitar, while Hyde provides vocals and bass, with the pair drawing on their experiences of feeling disconnected in an increasingly distant world.
The album opens with Trap, a track that combines epic heaviness with dark electronics, setting the tone for a record that repeatedly moves between crushing aggression and more atmospheric passages. Elsewhere, Echoes Of A Dying World delivers a devastating post-hardcore edge, while Lie To Me brings a heavier, aching intensity. Toxic is described as brutal and anthemic, while You Betray builds towards a gut-punch breakdown before exploding into a searing guitar solo. The album’s closing stretch also includes live versions of Burning Inside, Echoes Of A Dying World and You Betray, extending Electron’s studio sound into the live environment.
With Is This Worth Living For? approaching, Electron have also announced an extensive run of headline and festival dates across the UK and Europe, stretching from autumn 2026 into spring 2027. The UK run begins at Birmingham’s Flapper on 25th October before heading to Brighton in November. The band return to London in February for a headline appearance at Cart & Horses, followed by dates in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Nottingham. The European and festival dates then continue with an appearance at Mosh’N’May Festival in Essen and Call Of The Wild Festival in Lincolnshire.
