At just 19 years old, Gloucestershire singer-songwriter Flora Fiora has already built a career the hard way. Working independently from the small village of Chedworth, she has developed her own grassroots following, played venues and festivals across the region, and steadily attracted attention from both listeners and the music industry. Now, that momentum reaches a new stage with the release of her debut EP In No Particular Order, accompanied by focus single Kick The Tyres.

The four-track EP introduces an artist whose songwriting sits between the immediacy of indie-pop and the intimacy of the singer-songwriter tradition. Across In No Particular Order, Fiora turns inward, exploring reflection, ambition, frustration, uncertainty and the process of trying to understand life while still living through it.
The EP arrives at a significant moment in Fiora’s development. After years of doing everything herself, she has recently received support from BBC Introducing, delivered a standout KOKO Studio Session and signed with Right Tracks, the new publishing venture from Chrysalis co-founder Chris Wright. Yet the foundations of that progress were laid far from the traditional centres of the music industry.
Fiora still lives in Chedworth, a Gloucestershire village of around 800 people best known for its Roman Villa and National Trust heritage. For an aspiring musician, however, its picturesque surroundings come with obvious practical limitations. Rather than allowing geography to dictate her ambitions, Fiora began building opportunities for herself, travelling to gigs in Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud while making longer trips to London whenever recording or performance opportunities arose.
Social media provided another route to potential audiences and industry connections, while the local BBC Introducing network helped amplify her music. The result is a career built gradually and independently, with Fiora developing her songwriting, live performance and audience one step at a time. That journey is reflected directly in In No Particular Order.
Fiora describes songwriting as the place where the answers arrive, often only after an experience has passed. The EP consequently becomes an exercise in looking backwards and making sense of what has already happened, with its title reflecting the unpredictable way that understanding can emerge.
The opening track and focus single Kick The Tyres captures the frustration of pursuing a dream without knowing exactly when — or whether — the breakthrough will arrive. Driven by a propulsive hook, the song explores the tension between ambition and impatience. Fiora questions whether frustration should become fuel or whether sometimes the only option is to take a breath, steady yourself and continue.
The song’s choral vocal harmonies provide a striking contrast to that internal struggle, swirling around the middle-eight and giving the track a sense of release. What begins as an expression of frustration ultimately becomes a reminder that progress cannot always be measured by immediate results.
For Fiora, that tension comes from the reality of trying to establish herself while still so young. She recalls wondering why writing songs she loves has not immediately translated into sold-out venues, while recognising the pressure that comes from treating a dream as something that must be achieved as quickly as possible.
Her parents’ advice — that the journey matters as much as the destination — has become central to the meaning of Kick The Tyres. The song therefore becomes more than a frustrated snapshot of an emerging artist. It captures the contradictory emotions that accompany ambition: excitement, impatience, self-doubt and the determination to keep moving.
The EP also features Fiora’s recent singles Mad In The Head and Getting Out, bringing together songs that have already begun establishing her distinctive voice. Completing the collection is Dreamer, which shifts the mood towards something more ethereal and romantic. Together, the four tracks reveal different sides of Fiora’s songwriting while maintaining the reflective quality that runs throughout the project. All four songs are written by Flora Fiora, with one co-written alongside Crispin Burton. Production comes from Mike Batt, known for his work with Katie Melua, alongside Luke Batt, whose production credits include the Jonas Brothers.
The release follows an increasingly busy period of live activity for Fiora. During the summer she has appeared at Beautiful Days Festival, performed at The Sub Rooms in Stroud and delivered a visually distinctive showcase for Matblakk at The Cove, an infinity cove in London.
Those performances have provided another opportunity to translate the intimacy of her songwriting into a live setting, while continuing to build the audience that has developed around her music. Next comes a hometown-region show at Gloucester Guildhall on 7 November, where Fiora will support Devon.
For an artist who began by driving between small regional venues and building connections wherever she could, the release of In No Particular Order represents a significant milestone. It is the first substantial collection from a 19-year-old who has already demonstrated the determination required to create her own opportunities.
And with Kick The Tyres turning the frustrations of chasing a dream into an infectious song about perseverance, Flora Fiora makes it clear that the journey is very much still underway.
