Gigi Perez Captivates London With Raw Emotion And Rising-Star Power At BST Hyde Park 2025

by | Jul 6, 2025

At just 25 years old, Gigi Perez has already carved out a reputation as one of indie-pop’s most compelling new voices — and her late afternoon set on the Great Oak Stage at BST Hyde Park proved exactly why. Supporting headliner Noah Kahan and following a string of breakout moments this year, the Hackensack, New Jersey native delivered a deeply affecting performance filled with vulnerability, power, and soaring vocals.

“I love you so much, London. Thank you for having me!” she beamed, arms outstretched to the crowd as she kicked off with Please Be Rude, donning a Queen t-shirt that immediately brought the UK audience on-side. From the first note, Perez pulled the growing audience into her world — one defined by rich emotion and an uncanny ability to express the inexpressible.

This appearance comes on the heels of her debut LP At the Beach, in Every Life, released this past April to widespread acclaim. The record, a masterclass in poetic songwriting and sonic intimacy, formed the backbone of today’s set. The album’s title track was a standout moment, shimmering with emotional nuance and delivered with an aching tenderness that cut through the festival noise.

She kept the mood cinematic yet grounded throughout, performing songs like Twister, Chemistry, Fable, and Sailor Song with a confidence well beyond her years. Each track offered a glimpse into Perez’s deeply personal songwriting, exploring love, loss, and longing with sincerity and a quiet strength.

Though she first rose to prominence on TikTok with viral tracks Celene and Sometimes (Backwood), today’s performance solidified her status far beyond the platform. Her stage presence was electric yet understated — proof that she doesn’t need flashy theatrics to leave a lasting impression. Between songs, Perez spoke candidly with the audience: “This record and this show mean so much to me — thank you for listening,” she said, visibly moved.

Watching from side stage were Gracie Abrams and The National’s Aaron Dessner, two high-profile fans, alongside Noah Kahan, whose support further cements Perez’s rising status within the indie music sphere. With such industry heavyweights cheering her on, it’s clear she’s on a path few newcomers get to walk. And for those that arrived at Hyde Park too late to catch her set, her light shone bright as she later joined Noah Kahan for an emotional outing of Stick Season favourite Call Your Mom.

For a last afternoon slot on one of the UK’s most iconic festival stages, Gigi Perez brought a set full of soul, skill, and sincerity — and it was nothing short of mesmerising. From Hackensack to Hyde Park, she’s building a career that feels as timeless as it is fresh.
