Nottingham trio GIRLBAND! are preparing to throw open the doors to their debut self-titled album, GIRLBAND!, arriving on 13th November 2026. To celebrate the release, the band will take their infectious house-party spirit on the road for a series of intimate UK in-store appearances, bringing fans together for a run of special events across the country.
The six-date tour begins at Sound Knowledge in Marlborough on 12th November, before moving on to London, Kingston, Oxford, Nottingham and Leeds, wrapping up at Crash Records on 19th November. In a suitably unconventional twist, fans who pre-order the album will also have the opportunity to join the band for a couple of pints at a pub close to each venue, with further details to be announced.
For GIRLBAND!, the album is about far more than simply having a good time. Instead, it captures everything that happens around a party: friendships formed in crowded kitchens, complicated relationships, heartbreak, late-night conversations, questionable decisions and the occasional morning-after regret. Written while the trio were touring, making new friends, falling in and out of love and navigating the uncertainties of life, the record offers a candid and frequently chaotic snapshot of being a young woman today.
Love, sex, friendship, money, queerness and womanhood all find their way into the songs, with humour and euphoria sitting alongside vulnerability and more difficult emotions. The result is an album that embraces life’s contradictions, finding moments of joy in the messiness and acknowledging the struggles that often remain hidden behind closed doors.
The record’s central idea has its origins in the house where the band first came together. Neighbour’s House, their first single, was written in the small terraced property where rehearsals regularly turned into parties, the police were called on more than one occasion and friends seemed to be constantly passing through the front door. That house became a place defined by music, friendship and the sense that anything could happen, providing the inspiration for the album’s wider celebration of the people who make somewhere feel like home.
Musically, GIRLBAND! combines fuzzy guitars, oversized choruses and garage-rock energy with the scruffy, unfiltered spirit of 1990s alternative rock. Drawing on the influence of The Breeders, Hole and The Cranberries, alongside the heart of Bruce Springsteen and the pop sensibilities of Cyndi Lauper and The Bangles, the trio bring together a broad range of sounds without losing their own identity.
The recently released singles offer a taste of the album’s contrasting moods. 5AM transforms queer desire into a full-throttle rock love song, while She Said captures the hazy excitement of meeting someone who makes an otherwise ordinary night unforgettable. Elsewhere, Right On Time explores letting go of old guilt and learning to embrace yourself, while All My Friends tackles loneliness, mental health struggles and the difficulty of appearing to be coping when things are far from okay.
The band are already attracting growing attention, with Neighbour’s House receiving its premiere on BBC Radio 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins show and 5AM gaining support from Craig Charles on the station. Following more than 200 shows across the UK and Europe, GIRLBAND! have also appeared at Glastonbury, Isle of Wight Festival, Reeperbahn and The Great Escape, while sharing stages with Sex Pistols, Jake Bugg, James, Palaye Royale, Destroy Boys and Nxdia.
With almost one million YouTube views behind them, European dates supporting Sting and further UK festival appearances on the horizon, the trio are heading into the release of their debut album with considerable momentum.
The upcoming in-store appearances promise to bring the record’s communal spirit directly to fans. Rather than conventional record-store signings, GIRLBAND! are aiming to recreate the atmosphere of their songs, turning each venue into an extension of the house party and inviting audiences to become part of the band’s growing community.
