Good Charlotte Unveil Empowering New Single ‘Stepper’ Ahead Of Eighth Album ‘Motel Du Cap’

by | Jul 22, 2025

Genre-blurring pop-punk icons Good Charlotte continue their triumphant return with the release of the official video for latest single Stepper. Marking another taste of their highly anticipated eighth studio album Motel Du Cap, due out on 8th August, the track is an infectious anthem of perseverance, underscored by the band’s signature mix of honest lyricism, swaggering hooks, and high-octane rock energy.

Directed by Erik Rojas, the Stepper video stars frontmen Benji Madden and Joel Madden as maintenance managers at a quirky motel, where each guest finds unexpected empowerment through the song. As mundane moments are transformed by music, the visual echoes the track’s core message: showing up for yourself and those you love, no matter the odds.

Stepper is a song about showing up for life, for yourself, and for the people you love,” shared the Maddens. “Getting up every day and trying your best to make it—not just for your dreams, but for the dreams you share with the people you love.”

Produced by Zakk Cervini and Jordan Fish, and written by the Madden brothers, Stepper follows the defiant lead single Rejects, which dropped in June and quickly became the most-added song at US Alternative Radio before its official impact date. Both tracks will feature on Motel Du Cap, a deeply personal record that sees the band reconnect with their roots while embracing creative freedom.

After a brief hiatus, Motel Du Cap marks the beginning of what the band calls “Act 2”, reuniting the classic line-up of Joel Madden, Benji Madden, Paul Thomas (bass), and Billy Martin (guitar/keys). The album’s title and emotional core were inspired by an impromptu performance at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in France during a friend’s wedding in 2023—a moment that reawakened the band’s passion for raw, unfiltered connection through music.

“It was this wild, once-in-a-lifetime vibe,” Joel Madden said. “We were just there to celebrate, no pressure, and it reminded us why we started this—pure, unfiltered connection.”

As Motel Du Cap edges closer to release, Good Charlotte has been reconnecting with their fans in intimate and impactful ways. Last week, they performed a surprise set in Los Angeles, previewing new music for a small group of die-hard fans. This will be followed by a special fan event on 3rd August in Waldorf, Maryland—the band’s hometown—where they’ll host a pre-release party at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs baseball stadium. Fans will get an early listen to the full album, enjoy pre-game festivities with the band, and even snag exclusive merch.

Good Charlotte is also stepping back into the spotlight on major platforms. They recently made their live debut of Rejects on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and upcoming appearances include a headline set at the York State Fair on 23rd July, a slot on the Good Morning America Summer Concert Series on 8th August, and a performance at LIV Golf Chicago on 9th August. Their blistering set at Welcome to Rockville in May marked their first live show in nearly two years, heralding an exciting new chapter.

With over 2.3 billion streams, seven RIAA-certified releases, and a legacy of alt-rock hits like Lifestyles Of The Rich and Famous and The Anthem, Good Charlotte continue to evolve while staying true to the fans and community that have sustained them for nearly three decades.

Their return is not just nostalgic—Motel Du Cap is a bold and honest reminder of why Good Charlotte were never just a phase. They were, and still are, the voice of the outsiders, the dreamers, and the believers.
