Australian heavy trio HEADSEND announce their second EP, A Delicate Balance, set for release on 6th November, alongside the arrival of new single Biopsy Of An Unknown Growth – a swirling, heart-hammering track that further establishes the band as one of the country’s most compelling emerging heavy acts.
The five-track EP follows their blistering debut, Angel Glands, and finds HEADSEND pushing their songwriting and live energy into new territory without sacrificing the raw intensity that has defined their rapid rise. Alongside Biopsy Of An Unknown Growth, the collection features the blazing Free and the already established live favourite Slayerish.

For vocalist and guitarist Rasmus King, A Delicate Balance is deliberately open to interpretation rather than being tied to a single overarching narrative: “A Delicate Balance isn’t a story or about ‘anything’. Just a collection of different feelings. I like that songs mean different things to people. I don’t wanna ruin that. That’s the best part.”
Recorded live in Byron Bay with producer Nick DiDia, the EP captures the physicality that has become central to HEADSEND’s identity. Rather than attempting to replicate the impact of their performances through layers of studio production, the trio embrace the immediacy of playing together, allowing the songs to retain the tension, spontaneity and sheer volume of their live shows.
That approach has been fundamental to HEADSEND’s development. Built first and foremost as a live band, Rasmus King, his brother Kyuss and their high-school friend Bon Soric have forged a reputation for producing a mammoth sound that appears to defy the limitations of a three-piece.
Biopsy Of An Unknown Growth arrives with a video that documents another significant step in that journey. Filmed during the band’s first international tour, the visuals capture HEADSEND on the road across North America, where they supported Eagles Of Death Metal before heading into a run of headline shows across the US and Canada.
The footage provides a snapshot of a band experiencing the intensity of life on the road for the first time outside Australia, complementing the track’s restless, visceral energy while documenting the growing momentum surrounding them.
That momentum has been building steadily at home. HEADSEND’s rise began on stage, with the trio developing a formidable reputation through a series of increasingly high-profile appearances. After supporting Wunderhorse on their sold-out Australian tour in 2025, the band went on to share arena and stadium stages with Tool and AC/DC, bringing their uncompromising live attack to increasingly large audiences.
The demand for recorded material followed. Singles Stove and Chugg laid the groundwork before Angel Glands arrived, with the debut EP also recorded live in the studio. The recordings offered a glimpse of the sound that had already been winning over audiences in venues across Australia, while A Delicate Balance promises to expand on those foundations.
Earlier this year, that trajectory culminated in a sold-out Sydney headline show in May, before HEADSEND took their live assault overseas for the first time. Their North American run with Eagles Of Death Metal introduced the trio to new audiences across the continent, alongside their own headline dates.
Now, the international campaign continues in the UK and Europe. HEADSEND made their long-awaited UK debut last week, including an appearance at All Points East in London, before continuing their first UK and European headline run. The tour takes in Glasgow and Dublin before moving through mainland Europe, including an appearance at Reeperbahn Festival.
For a band whose reputation has been built almost entirely through the visceral experience of seeing them perform, the shows mark an important new chapter. The transition from playing alongside some of the world’s biggest rock acts to taking their own headline shows to international audiences gives HEADSEND the opportunity to establish their identity on their own terms.
At the centre of it all remains the chemistry between the three members. Rasmus and Kyuss King’s sibling connection, combined with their long-standing friendship with Bon Soric, gives the band a tightness that underpins the controlled chaos of their performances. Their sound is expansive but never loses the physical punch expected from a power trio, with the live recording approach allowing that sense of immediacy to carry through to their releases.
With A Delicate Balance, HEADSEND appear increasingly unwilling to be confined to a single definition of heavy music. The EP instead promises a collection of contrasting moods and sensations, united by the band’s instinctive chemistry and relentless live energy.
