Global superstar Josh Groban has announced his forthcoming album CINEMATIC, set for release on 8th May. The 10-track collection celebrates some of the most iconic songs in film history, with Groban putting his own spin on beloved cinematic classics.
Produced by Greg Wells, the album was recorded between Los Angeles and London and draws from legendary films including The Godfather, Casablanca, The Lion King, Breakfast At Tiffany’s and more.
To mark the announcement, Groban has unveiled his rendition of Can You Feel The Love Tonight, originally from The Lion King, offering a first taste of the album’s sweeping, orchestral sound. The track features the Gay Men’s Chorus Of Los Angeles and showcases Groban’s signature vocal style against a cinematic backdrop.
“There’s something incredibly powerful about the way a song or score can elevate a story and stay with you long after the credits roll,” Groban explained. “With CINEMATIC, I wanted to honour that feeling — the nostalgia, the drama, the romance — while bringing my own voice and perspective to these timeless songs.”
The album promises a mix of grand arrangements and intimate moments, including a Sicilian-language version of Brucia La Terra from The Godfather, a reimagined As Time Goes By from Casablanca, and a duet of Unchained Melody with Jennifer Hudson. Elsewhere, Groban collaborates with his father, Jack Groban, on a rendition of Moon River, while also tackling modern classics such as Skyfall.
The release arrives amid a busy period for Groban, who recently launched his GEMS World Tour with a sold-out show in Honolulu before taking the production across Asia and Oceania. The tour now heads to Europe, including a major UK date at The O2 on 1st April.
With a North American leg to follow — featuring Jennifer Hudson as special guest — and a Las Vegas residency later in the year, CINEMATIC marks another ambitious chapter in Groban’s career, blending the worlds of film and music into a richly orchestrated live and recorded experience.
