Continuing to carve out a distinct space in country, Americana and folk, Grey marks a deeply personal chapter for Sutherland, with songs written and recorded across a two-year period between 2024 and 2026. Moving away from observational storytelling, the new material leans into more introspective territory.

Speaking on the album, Sutherland explains that the record reflects a shift in perspective: a move toward exploring his own experiences and emotions more directly. That sentiment is immediately evident on Simpler Time, a track rooted in nostalgia and reflection. The single looks back on youth and a world that once felt more stable, while acknowledging the complexities of memory and the way it can soften the edges of the past.

Produced by a trio of respected collaborators—Ethan Johns, Rocco DeLuca and Mark NeillGrey promises a rich, textured sound that builds on Sutherland’s established blend of roots-driven songwriting and understated, heartfelt delivery.

Since launching his music career, Sutherland has steadily built a reputation as a compelling storyteller beyond the screen, balancing his work as an actor with a growing catalogue of authentic, road-worn songs. Grey looks set to further cement that dual identity, offering a collection shaped by lived experience and personal growth.

To coincide with the release, Sutherland will embark on an extensive UK, Ireland and European tour beginning next month, bringing his latest material to audiences across intimate venues and historic spaces—including a London stop at Union Chapel.
