KillerStar Share Powerful New Single ‘The Afterglow’ Ahead Of Second Album Release

by | Jan 27, 2026

KillerStar kick off 2026 with the release of their brand new single The Afterglow, the title track from their forthcoming second album, due out on 20th March. The track arrives alongside an official music video and sets the tone for what promises to be a bold and expansive follow-up to the band’s acclaimed debut.

Formed by Rob Fleming and James Sedge, KillerStar were born from a shared love of ’70s art-rock and forward-thinking alternative music. That vision has since drawn an extraordinary collective of collaborators into their orbit, including several legendary alumni from David Bowie’s band. The Afterglow sees contributions from Mike Garson, Earl Slick and Mark Plati, alongside soaring backing vocals from The Webb Sisters, resulting in a track that feels both timeless and thrillingly alive.

Following the swaggering first single So Easy, The Afterglow hits with urgency and momentum. Driven by a propulsive rhythm section and a soaring, instantly memorable hook, the track allows each musician space to shine. Earl Slick’s expressive lead guitar weaves melody with grit, while Mike Garson’s unmistakably unorthodox keys add a sense of drama and unpredictability. The Webb Sisters’ harmonies lift the chorus skyward, balancing Rob Fleming’s commanding lead vocal, all anchored by James Sedge’s pounding drums and Mark Plati’s virtuoso bass work.

Speaking on the track, Fleming explains: “The Afterglow is the title track from our new album of the same name. The song aims to invoke that euphoric glow you get after watching a great live show or playing music onstage. We feel this is reflected in the energy of the playing on this song — all musicians playing as one, serving the song as it propels forward at pace with earworm riffs and hooks.”

The upcoming album was written by Fleming with Sedge, and produced by the duo alongside Dave Eringa. Recording sessions took place across London, New York and Los Angeles, with the final touches completed through mastering at Sterling Sound and Abbey Road Studios. Alongside the core contributors, the record also features appearances from Emm Gryner, Gerry Leonard, Alfio Annibali, Dom Beken and Carey Frank, adding further depth to an already expansive sonic palette.

To celebrate the release of The Afterglow, KillerStar will return to London’s legendary 100 Club for two special album launch shows in March — a fitting stage for a band whose live energy lies at the heart of their sound.
