The track arrives as another compelling chapter in what has already been a landmark year for the Louisiana-born star. Written during the closing stretch of Wilson’s extensive Whirlwind World Tour and recorded at Mayer’s Chaplin Studios in Los Angeles, Phone, Keys, Wallet captures the whirlwind nature of modern life through Wilson’s signature blend of honesty, humour and emotional authenticity.

Built around a warm country-pop groove and elevated by Mayer’s tasteful guitar work, the song celebrates the person willing to stand by you through life’s inevitable chaos. Wilson describes herself as “a tornado with boots on” and channels that self-awareness into a track that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable.

Speaking about the song, Wilson explains that it reflects the experience of finding someone who embraces your imperfections rather than trying to change them. That sentiment runs throughout the track, which balances vulnerability with the confidence that has become a hallmark of her songwriting.

The new release follows a string of high-profile projects and collaborations. Earlier this year Wilson joined forces with Miley Cyrus for the reflective duet Younger You, while her recent single Can’t Sit Still further showcased her ability to blend traditional country storytelling with contemporary energy.

Wilson’s profile continues to soar well beyond the recording studio. The GRAMMY® Award-winning singer recently headlined Stagecoach Festival, delivered a standout performance to one of country music’s biggest audiences, and remains one of the genre’s most influential voices. Her growing cultural impact has also extended into film and television, with her acting career gathering momentum following her appearance in Yellowstone and a recent role in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Reminders Of Him.

Fans have also been given a behind-the-scenes look at Wilson’s extraordinary journey through the new Netflix documentary Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool, charting her rise from small-town Louisiana to becoming one of country music’s defining stars.

The accolades continue to pile up. Wilson recently added further CMA Awards to her collection, including Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for Whirlwind. Those achievements build on an already staggering résumé that includes multiple ACM Awards, GRAMMY® recognition and a string of chart-topping singles such as Heart Like A Truck, Watermelon Moonshine and 4x4xU.

Known as one of Nashville’s most sought-after songwriters, Wilson has built a reputation for crafting songs that resonate across genres while maintaining a distinctly country heart. Collaborations with artists including Jelly Roll, HARDY, Cole Swindell, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert and Post Malone have further cemented her status as one of contemporary country music’s most versatile talents.

With Phone, Keys, Wallet now out in the world and more new music expected on the horizon, Lainey Wilson shows no signs of slowing down. The single offers another glimpse into an artist operating at the peak of her powers—combining authentic storytelling, arena-sized charisma and a relentless work ethic that continues to propel her to new heights.

Eleven years since their last visit to the capital, Jason Wade and longtime guitarist Steve Stout strip everything back for the second of two London acoustic shows—following the previous evening’s performance at nearby Bush Hall—and in doing so remind a packed Shepherd’s Bush Empire exactly why these songs have endured for a quarter of a century.
