After a two-year break from the spotlight, Lewis Capaldi is back with a vengeance. Fresh off a triumphant return to the stage and a record-breaking new single, the Scottish star has unveiled his latest heart-wrenching anthem, Something In The Heavens, alongside news of his biggest-ever UK and Irish outdoor headline shows set for summer 2026.
The track, written with Connor and Riley McDonough, sees Capaldi doing what he does best: reaching straight for the jugular with unflinching honesty. “I’ll love you til my last breath, you’re gone but something in the heavens tells me that we’ll be together again,” he sings, his voice cracking under the weight of loss yet shot through with hope. Its accompanying live performance video, filmed at Abbey Road and directed by Huse Monfaradi (Arctic Monkeys, Michael Kiwanuka), captures the song’s aching intimacy in real time.
The single arrives as Capaldi continues his sold-out 17-date UK arena tour, his first in over two years. Fans have already been belting out Something In The Heavens word-for-word at shows in Sheffield, Glasgow, and London, proof of the extraordinary bond he commands.
Capaldi’s comeback was supercharged earlier this year with Survive, his sixth UK Number 1 single and the fastest-selling single of 2025, outselling both Sabrina Carpenter and Lady Gaga in its opening week. The track cemented his place among the likes of Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and Queen in the elite club of artists to notch up six chart-toppers. Its Glastonbury Pyramid Stage debut became one of the festival’s defining moments: half an hour of catharsis, capped by a stirring mass singalong of Someone You Loved.
Now, Capaldi has his eyes set on the summer of 2026 with his largest headline shows to date, including a landmark slot at BST Hyde Park on Saturday 11th July alongside a 4th July headline slot at the inaugural Roundhay Festival at Leeds’ Roundhay Park. The run kicks off at Dublin’s Marlay Park on 24th June and takes in Cardiff, Leeds, Belfast, Manchester, and two massive nights at Exeter’s Powderham Castle, with multiple dates already sold out.
Capaldi’s resurgence is all the more powerful given his decision in 2023 to step back from touring to focus on his mental health. His cautious re-entry via intimate charity warm-ups earlier this year quickly snowballed into a sold-out arena run, his voice stronger than ever and his connection with fans deeper still.
It’s a comeback story few could match, but then again, Lewis Capaldi has always thrived on finding light in the darkest corners. With Something In The Heavens, he once again proves why he’s one of the defining voices of his generation.
